There’s Hope

December 21st is the shortest day of the year, which most people find really depressing.  But  . . .since we are a boating family and look forward to summer more than anything, we see it quite differently.  December 21st may be the shortest day of the year, but that only means the days will get longer from there. . .bringing us closer to summer.

And . . .honestly . . .I need a break from all the Christmas that is around.  Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas.  But it seems to be more work year after year.  Sometimes I wish I could take off and spend Christmas in the Caribbean.  Wouldn’t that be nice?

For all of you who love summer, lets take a trip there through needlepoint.

Summer at the Shore makes me think of Block Island where we go most summers.

Nothing says summer more than fun cocktails.

New England in the summer is the best.  Lobster rolls . . .yum!

Mary Susan’s ice cream cones are the essence of summer.

This berry basket by Melissa Shirley makes me so happy.  And what a fun piece it was to stitch!

I could go on and on, but we all have to get back to our holiday preparations (aka chores).  Hopefully I took your mind off of things for a few minutes!

I love your first canvas with the ships in the distance from the beautiful house with flowers and the light house. I too love the berry basket as well. They bring inner peace and happiness for me. I have never been to Block Island but I have been to Rhode Island where my in-laws are from. Absolutely beautiful throughout the entire state. Thank you so much for sharing.

We did go to the Caribbean for Christmas and it was wonderful. We spent Christmas Day in the Panama Canal which was absolutely delightful. I highly recommend it for anyone who can do it. The ship was highly decorated and all we had to do was enjoy it
