Christmas is such a magical time of year. I love everything about it. Well . . . maybe not everything.
My favorite part of Christmas is putting up my needlepoint tree.
Over the years I have made my son an ornament every year. When he was about 8 he was obsessed with Titanic.
The Little Tykes car was actually my son’s idea to paint on canvas. One day he said to me, “You know what you should needlepoint? The toon car with a Christmas tree on it.”
He called this “The Toon Car” after the car that was in the Micky Mouse show he used to watch as a kid.
Probably my favorite ornament of all time is the mommy and baby penguin.
I was going through canvases one year and asking my son to pick out a canvas he wanted me to stitch. He didn’t pick this one first. But then he said that he should have picked this one after he had picked another. I asked why and he said, “Because it’s you and me.” Talk about melting a mother’s heart!
I’ll be sure to share more stories about my tree over the next few weeks!
