Last weekend Jinny and I took a road trip down to a lovely shop in Pennsylvania for a two day canvas embellishment class with the renowned Tony Minieri.
I worked on this gorgeous piece by Raul Del Rio, which is distributed by Julia’s Needleworks. I’ve always wanted to stitch a piece with beautiful parrots (or Macaws in this case)
I learned so much in this class. So many new techniques to me. I think free-form fly is my new favorite stitch!
And check out the branch the bird is sitting on. This technique is called Casalguidi.
A little Portugese Knotted Stem Stitch for the bamboo.
And I finally was able to learn Repousse’. It’s amazing what I can learn when I take a class not in my own shop!
These tacked ribbon loops are so easy and so pretty!
I can’t wait to take another class with Tony. This piece is going to be outstanding!
Your work is beautiful and Tony Minieri is an amazing teacher!
