Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas from all of us at The Enriched Stitch!

It has been a busy and exciting year for us.  Thank you to all of our customers for coming along for the ride.

This is the first stocking I did for my son six years ago.  I had originally ordered a Liz stocking with Santa flying around a lighthouse.  As beautiful as the piece is. I’m happy it never came in.  There were at least 20 shades of blue.  Yuck!  And I would have tent stitched at that time.

My stocking came next.

Growing up in Connecticut, we used to go to New York City every Christmas to see the tree.  Nothing is more magical than standing beneath that beautiful tree.

The canvas was painted with an orange tree.  As was the Chrysler building.  I started stitching the stocking in early December, right before the tree lighting.  I had decided I didn’t want a big orange tree in my stocking.  I was going to make it green.  I watched the tree lighting that night and sure enough, the tree was green.   I couldn’t understand why the designer would have plopped a big orange tree in the middle of the canvas.  That year, the lights had been switched to LED lights, which have a blue tinge to them.  My mother pulled out old pictures of us kids standing in front of the tree and sure enough, that tree was orange.

It’s all about the lights.

My husband was getting a little impatient for his stocking.  But, in the end, he said “I may have had to wait the longest, but mine is the best one.”

Wonderful stockings! I’ve made stockings for my family. My daughter never seemed to like hers! Even though I custom designed it with her favorite doll, and doll house in it! I am sure when the years go by, she will appreciate it more! I Hope!

These stockings are beautiful. My grandmother made these types of custom stockings for our entire family. I cherish mine and I’m now expecting my first child. I want my son and husband to have similar needlepoint stockings. Do you know if anyone does this for a living? If I can pay someone to make one?

    Thanks in advance.

Please please share where you got the pattern for your New York City stocking. My mom loved that city & took me there for Christmas once. I would love to make this in her memory. I, like you, have made cross stitch stockings for my family & now that I am a newlywed I need to get stitching for his sisters;)
