Mini Earmuffs

These are the cutest darn things I’ve ever stitched!  I couldn’t wait to for them to come back from the finisher.  I had never seen them finished, so I didn’t know what to expect.  Spinning Wheel never disappoints with their finishing!

Here’s a few other designs.  All $28

My Assistant

He may not be able to stitch background for me yet, but my little guy sure can flat iron my Neon Rays!

I used to think that people who ironed their threads were insane.  I guess I’m a member of the loony bin too!

For those of you who don’t know him, this is my 4 year old Trip.  (No he doesn’t have a weird name.  He’s a 3rd) He loves to help me out in the shop serving water and taking all of the System 4’s apart.

Here Comes Peter Cottontail!

The Easter Season is upon us and we are all geared up at the store!  We have an entire table dedicated to darling Easter decorations.  We just received some new Easter canvases.  There’s a few of our favorites here, as well.

We have copies of Carolyn Hedge Baird’s book ” Merry Easter Egg.”

Many of these stitch up quickly and are so fun!  Stop by the store to check it out, or if you see something you like here, call and we can send it to you.  You can even Skype with us while we pick you out threads for your new project!

Skype Virtual Tour

Today I hosted a virtual tour of the shop via Skype to over 20 of students at the Handicraft Club in Providence, Rhode Island.   Caryl Freedman is the needlepoint teacher at this amazing  facility.  She has over 90 students!  Caryl visited the shop a few weeks ago for our Ribbon 101 class, though we have been chatting on the phone for months.  She plans on coming down next weekend to take Aggie’s peacock class.  She participated in the first class via Skype.

Caryl couldn’t have written a nicer email to her students.

“Suzie Valierie, the dynamic young owner of this awesome needlepoint shop, will take us on a tour! The huge inventory of fabulous threads, a selection of canvases that will make you cry, and all the accessories,  OH MY…..it makes my heart beat fast. Suzie and staff are incredibly talented and oh, so creative! The shop is “dedicated to sharing their love and knowledge of needlepoint” – from the shop’s website. The shop is all about educating and enhancing the skills of the needlepoint artisan – from in staff led enrichment classes to visiting National Teachers.”

I showed them the canvas boards and gave them a sampling of the over 75 varieties of threads.  Caryl asked me demonstrate the Needlework System 4 floor stand and explain the benefits of working on stretcher bars and scrolls.

Caryl and I have a shared passion. Not only to stitch, but to teach and spread the creativity, excitement and the relaxation and satisfaction of the therapy of needlepoint.

I’m happy to take you on a tour of the shop any time.  Just give the shop a call and we can set it up.  203-210-5107

I am so fortunate to have found such wonderful customers and other stitchers who are just as passionate about this craft as I am.

Maggie by Aggie

Aggie taught her first class at The Enriched Stitch yesterday.  She rocked it!  What an awesome teacher.  She had 4 ladies in the shop and 3 on Skype.  Becki also lent a helping hand.

A few months back I handed this piece to Aggie and told her to “go wild.”  I loved watching her play with this piece.

The crest of the peacock is turkey work with Wisper

I call Aggie the “ribbon master”

My favorite part is the body and wing.  This is how Aggie got her nickname “Glitz”

Call the shop or email if you’d like us to get a kit out to you.  The next class is on March 9th.  It’s not to late to join in!

Canvas: $125      Thread Kit: $143      Stitch Guide: Included with kit or available for purchase separately for $75

Studio Time

We’re so excited to be starting studio time at The Enriched Stitch.  Every Wednesday 10-12 you are welcome to stop by and pull up a chair.  For a nominal fee of $20, work with one of our teachers in a group setting.  Bring a canvas you are stumped on or a stitch you’d like to learn.  You’ll meet other stitchers and learn so much from them as well.  It’s amazing what happens when a group of passionate stitchers get together.  Just look at my  think tank.  (the ladies who work in the shop).  I can’t take all of the credit for what I stitch.  But I will always let you know who inspired me.

Helowise by Becki

Becki has started this entire series of witches by Melissa Shirley.  The first of the gals is Helowise.

This witch reminds Becki of her grandmother (in a good way).

Her skirt and apron in detail

 The ribbon work is spectacular!

Becki’s choice of colors and her light use of thread blows me away every time

We’ll be offering this as a class in the fall.  Let us know if you are interested and we’ll keep you posted
