A New Show!

A few days ago it was announced that a new trade show will be held March 30th-April 1st in Orlando, Florida.  I am SO excited!   No three hour time change . . .a quick and easy flight . . .and warm . . .what more could a girl ask for?

So, this means that my wholesale line,  Vallerie Needlepoint Gallery, will not be attending the TNNA show in Portland.  But, I’ll have new designs for January and throughout the year from now on!

A Kink in My Plans
With this new show, I’ve had to reschedule our Needlepoint in New England retreat.  It was planned for April 6th, but that’s impossible now with the new show. I can do a lot, but even I can’t turn around two days after getting home from a trade show and host a retreat.  I’m working on new dates for 2019.  It’s going to be in October, the most beautiful time here in the North East.  I will let you know as soon as I have a date set.

Kelly will be back October 10-12!
We have two different classes!
The first class is on Wednesday October 10th from 10-3 where Kelly will be teaching here stunning ribbon eggs.  Choose one, two or three of the eggs to work on during class.  These are SOOOOOOO beautiful in person!

Pick Your Piece Workshop
The second class, “Pick Your Piece Workshop” will be on Thursday and Friday October 11-12.  This is a two days class where you will pick one of five pieces to work on with Kelly. I think there’s something for everyone!

For those of you who have no interest in stumpwork, these two holiday pieces are for you!
Hope!

If you missed our fabulous retreat in the Spring,  Kelly will be teaching an encore class at the shop.  The details in the piece are amazing!

Autumn Topiaries

I think this is my favorite.  I know what I’ll be stitching during class!  This piece is 10 x 8 on 14 mesh.
I have to get the canvases ordered by July 15th so don’t wait too long to sign up!  Give us a call at the shop and we can give you all the details and pricing.  I hope you can make it!  If you’ve never taken a class with Kelly you’re in for a real treat!

Stash Sale
You don’t wanna miss this . . .August 18th . . .a Stash Sale!   You’re probably wondering what that means.  Here’s how it works.
Bring your pre-priced unwanted “stash” items to the shop on Saturday August 18th so they can become someone else’s treasure.  You can also mail in your items if you’d like to contribute.
Proceeds from the sale will be donated to a wonderful family in Wilton that is going through a very difficult time.   Issy Kwei, and adorable 11 year old girl from Wilton, had a tumor removed form her brain stem at Yale Hospital.  The tumor was removed successfully but Issy has a long road ahead of her, having to relearn brain-stem controlled skills-from breathing, swallowing, talking and more.  The family faces exorbitant medical bills, expected to be $250,000-$500,000!  Doesn’t this sound like a wonderful thing to do?
How cute is she?
Items not sold will be donated to another charity and will not be returned.
Canvases must be unstitched and you are limited to 5 canvases to donate. You must price them ahead of time. If you need help with that, just give us a shout.
So, come and stitch in the shop that day. We’ll have door prizes, snacks and a ton of fun!  Bring lunch and spend the day if you want to!  If you can’t make it that day, you can drop off your once loved treasures that week.
If you’d like to make a donation, there is a Go Fund Me account set up for the family.

New Club! Abstract Forest Animals

I was so excited when Melissa Prince came out with ornament size versions of her larger abstract animals!  I ordered an entire set for myself at the January show.  I snatched them up as soon as they came in and none of the girls at the shop knew that I had them in my stash.  So they were quite surprised to see that I had stitched all five.

If you’re thinking that I forgot to stitch the background or that I’m not finished, you’re mistaken.  I don’t feel like these need a background.  But, there will be a suggestion in the guide for those of you who aren’t quite on board with my minimalistic backgrounds.

All the special embellishments come with the club and are exclusive to club participants, like the cool eye on the fox.

I don’t know which one is my favorite.   I’m usually partial to bunnies but I think in this case my favorite is the deer.

Our new club starts in October.  There are five canvases in total.  Each canvas is $65 and includes the stitch guide.  Each thread kit installment is $55.  You can sign up online or by calling the shop.  203-210-5107.  You must sign up by August 11th to be included in the first shipment.  You will be charged a deposit of $130 when you sign up which is one installment of the club along with the shipping.

I better write the stitch guides up quickly so I can get them off to the finisher. I’ve made that mistake before of sending a piece off to a finisher and thinking I could write the guide from a picture. LOL!  And I have to search for a funky Scandinavian type tree for them to hang from.

I hope you join us in this fun series!

A Massive Undertaking

Our dear customer, John, has been working on this tapestry for over three years!  He stopped by the shop with it framed to show us.  It is magnificent!

John is a pretty big guy so you can tell from the picture how big this piece is.  I think it 3 x 4 feet!

John can tell you exactly how many stitches are in the piece . . .how much thread it took  . . .and I think how much time.  I started tuning him out when he started spouted that nonsense.  LOL!  I do NOT want to know how long it takes me to stitch a piece.  The best I can judge is how many episodes of a show I’ve binge watched on Netflix.

His Basketweave and tension are perfect!

He adjusted the colors from the printed design.  They are so vibrant!

Basketweave is simply stunning.  And personally, I think the hardest thing to do correctly in needlepoint.  So, don’t think you need to add all sorts of stitches and embellishments.  Every once in a while I pick up a little Basketweave piece to check my tension and technique.  I think that’s really important to do from time to time.  But I can assure you,  no way in Hell could I ever get through a piece of this magnitude in Basketweave!

Buzzzzzzzzz

Between the retreat and moving I totally forgot to post this fabulous bee canvas by Amanda Lawford that Mary Susan stitched.

She came in one morning and declared that “13 mesh is SO delightful!”

No, that’s not a cording around the border.  That Mary Susan is very clever in how she stitched that.  It’s not hard, but what a great idea!

The background comes in white, but we had it custom painted in turquoise for her.  We can do any background color you want.  Just give us a thread color and we’ll match it.  We’re thinking about doing this as a class but haven’t picked a date yet.  But for now, we have canvases in stock and a stitch guide available.  Give us a call at the shop to order your custom kit.

Funda Scully Trunk Show

We just finished hanging the Funda Scully trunk show. One design is cuter than the next!  All trunk show canvases and special orders are 20% off now through July  29th!

Love these little birds!

The baby collection is adorable!

There are TONS of hinged boxes in the trunk show.  They make the greatest gift.

The Designer Collection isn’t featured on the website yet.

These little Judaica pieces would make great inserts for a box to hold matches for the holiday.

I hope I get a chance today to pick out one for me.  I’ll let you know what I choose!

Too Busy to Stitch

I haven’t stitched much lately and it’s killing me! I’ve been painting like crazy for the Dallas show in September. I SO wish I could show you right now but it’s a little early for sneak peeks. Let’s just say I’m going to have about 100 new designs.

Before you say she’s insane, I haven’t painted 100 new designs. There will be about 20 new designs from Scott Partridge and the canvases from our Silly Little Birds club will be released individually. They are also going to be available on 13 mesh but a little bigger. OK . . .there’s a hint for you!

The other thing I can tell you is that The Two Chickadees are going to get a companion piece. Same size . . .but possibly cuter!

Amanda Lawford has painted almost 40 new designs that we collaborated on. These are amazing! I can’t wait to stitch so many of them. I hope a few come in soon so I can get a few stitched for the show. I can tell you there’s a new bunny and he’s TO DIE FOR!

I’ve reworked a few Amanda classics that I can’t wait to have hanging on my Christmas tree this year.

And I have a new series of small designs. There will be about 40-50 of them. The girls in the shop have seen them and love them. They might just be being nice to my face about it but I don’t think so . . .or hope not! They’ve always been honest with me so I hope they aren’t blowing smoke up my a## this time!

I can’t wait to show you all the designs but you’ll have to be patient and wait till September like everyone else. But, if you’re in the shop, you might catch a glimpse of something that’s in the works. You never know what you’ll find hanging around the shop!
