What’s this? You ask. Let me tell you. . .
Every month we will select a canvas to stitch. Thread kits and stitch guides will be sent out in varying installments, based upon the size of the canvas. We’ll give you a little taste of what we are doing with the canvas. But, don’t you trust us by now?
I won’t be able to tell you the price of the thread kit until I am finished, but it is usually around the price of the canvas. This piece will be less, since there is so much open canvas.
Our first adventure is a Charlie Harper canvas I started stitching this weekend. And yes, all I did was stitch this weekend. I wasn’t feeling great and decided I needed a day off, since I hadn’t had one in two weeks. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining about going to market. But it sure is exhausting.
I wanted to make the sky spooky. So I used a Bargello stitch from Julia Snyder’s new book iBargello. It’s the easiest thing to see on black canvas.
I created a new Turkey Work technique for the fur around his face. You’ll have to get the guide to find out!
I love laid and tied stitches. You can add so much depth and texture to a piece. There was a thread on Facebook about how to stitch a Charlie Harper canvas and should it be Basketweave to preserve the look of the original art. I look at needlepoint as an art form that enhances the original art that we are stitching over. You have to maintain the feel and look of the original art, but color it with threads and textures.
Next month I think I’ll need something a little more colorful to pull me out of the doldrums of winter.
Call the shop or email if you want to come along on our adventure.
Canvas: $150

I’m a little bleary eyed and exhausted, but I just had to tell you my favorite pieces from market.
I LOVE these little carolers! I’ve never stitch a 3D piece, but I sure plan on it now. These cuties are from Sew Much Fun and retail for $88. A stitch guide is available, as well.
You all know I have a thing for Ewe & Eye. I can’t wait to get this one on bars. Stitch guide to come.
This is the most beautiful canvas I have EVER seen! Leave it to Amanda Lawford. It will come in 15, 20 and 30 inches. I have a 20 inch Santa coming my way.
Pepperberry Designs is a fairly new designer and new exhibitor this year. Vicki De Angelis stitched these cute little ornaments. Her stitch guides are available.
Susan Roberts has a new mini parade. Santa is riding a polar bear pulling a sleigh. Unfortunately you can’t take pictures in Susan Roberts’ booth. I’ll post one as soon as I can. It’s not nearly as big as the other parades. Phew!
Melissa Prince has designed a Lighthouse birdhouse. This may have been a little bit of my idea. It comes in the large size and the small round.
I will be stitching both of these.
Raymond Crawford has an adorable series of pirates. The candy cane peg leg Santa is so cute.
I purchased him at Sample It and he is going to go on bars tonight. Hopefully. I may fall asleep before that happens. The red eye flight sucks.
I have been loading the new designs and other canvases that are new to the shop into the webstore. All are preorder. Many more to come. All canvases in the Market Collection are discounted 10% now through Saturday. Use discount code
MARKET at the checkout.

I got my hands some goodies tonight! We had a wonderful dinner with Vicki De Angelis and Donna, and Elizabeth and Carol from Needlepoint Now. So much fun! But not as much fun as Sample It. This is the only time that shop owners can purchase anything to take home with them from the show. It is a mad feeding frenzy! We got there an hour before it opened to wait in line. My mother taught her daughter how to shop.
Let’s start with our favorites . . .magnets.
Needle Deeva has some adorable Valentines hearts.
Julia Snyder has a brand new book about Bargello. We were able to smuggle a few extra out.
Zecca has a collection of pin cushions. They come with coordinating fabric to finish with.
Alice Peterson has some new stitch n zip stockings.
A Collection of Designs has beautiful new ornaments.
And the Petei Santas! They have been a long wait, but well worth it.
Of course there are new angels
Associated Talents has some treats for us. The finished pieces are adorable. Too bad I didn’t get a picture. Maybe tomorrow.
This is a new artist from Artist Collection. One of my favorites so far.
This little pirate is my favorite. Trip thought this guy was hysterical. I may just write a guide for him tonight. Oh, who am I kidding? It’s either more fun or bed.
These three carolers from so much fun are about the cutest thing I ever saw. They are finished holding sheet music sitting on a bench. They will post a pic of the finished piece on their Facebook page soon.
Email me if you would like to order something. Everything will be loaded into the webstore after I get home.

Aggie and I arrived in San Diego last night for the TNNA Winter Trade Show. We had a great flight. Quick ride from the airport. And boy did we luck out with a room!
When we arrived at the hotel last night, the room they had us scheduled to stay in apparently had a very strong odor that they couldn’t get rid of. So, we were upgraded to a three room suite! Lucky us!
We’ve had a relaxing day at the spa, before the mayhem begins.
Be sure to like us on Facebook if you haven’t already. It’s the easiest and fastest way for me to post pics.
We’re heading out the door in a few minutes to the convention center for Sample It. This is the only opportunity shop owners have to take anything home from this show. I’ve got my eye on some goodies. Aggie and I have a plan of attack.
Everyone knows Ewe & Eye are one of my favorites. Here’s some brand new designs for 2014.
Let me know if you want me to order anything while I’m at market.
I’m sure you recognize this piece. I’ve stitched and have a guide for it.
Our exclusive piece is now available to all shops. I can’t wait for this to come back from the finisher.
The canvas for the retreat this year is in the works. Picture and details coming soon.
I LOVE this one! Wait till you see what we have coming exclusively from Ewe & Eye in early summer!
We’ve just unpacked the Labors of Love trunk show. All trunk show canvases are 15% off.
Check out their website and let us know if there’s something you’ve had your eye on.

I don’t know what it is about these magnets, but I can’t get enough of them. They are so addictive. They don’t even have to go with the canvas, which is always better. They just make me happy.
They’ve been loaded into the webstore for preorder!
