Leigh Designs just introduced a new series of Russian Santas. I immediately forwarded the email to Becki. This series has her name written all over it! We will offer this series as a club, starting in March 2014.
They measure 6 inches on 18 mesh.
Each canvas is $110 which includes a stitch guide. Thread kits additional.
If you don’t know Becki, you might recognize some of her work. She just finished working on this beautiful piece by Melissa Shirley.
Here’s some other masterpieces she has created.
Tempted?
About a month or so ago, a woman from Texas contacted me about a project for her stitching group. They want to stitch the Melissa Shirley Thimble Nativity and decided to start with Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus. I thought this was a fabulous project for a stitching group.
I’ve always wanted to stitch this set. I figured since they asked me to write stitch guides, I might as well stitch them.
Each member of the cast is $53. The thread kit for the Holy Family is $120.45

You can see the rest of the set on Melissa Shirley’s website.
Mary Susan, who works at the shop, stitched this Raymond Crawford piece for her mother for Christmas. This is one of the best pieces of finishing I have EVER seen! The fabric choice is perfect.
The trim is to die for! She designed all of the finishing. By the way, she’s head of the fini
hasn’t written a guide yet, but I might be able to talk her into it.
Nancy Taylor worked with her student Barbara on this nativity set by Kathy Schenkel. And yes, there is a guide for the entire series.
This Maggie piece, stitched by Debbie, who also works at the shop, is outstanding. She worked on it with Julia Snyder during our first embellishment class. Great use of Sparkles for the letters, despite her grumbling while she worked on it.
Can’t wait to see what the UPS man brings tomorrow!
The finishing is starting to arrive. It’s like Christmas every day!
Susan was the first to finish Helowise from Becki’s class last June.
Baltimore Needleworks did a beautiful job finishing my pilgrim from the Needle Deeva Thanksgiving Club. By the way, it’s not too late to join. We are one the exclusive shops in the country that was selected to participate in the club.
Laura stitched this for her boyfriend. First stitched gift. Big moment!
Laurie worked on this piece with Julia Snyder in our first embellishment class.
If you’ve never taken an embellishment class with Julia, just look at the results you will get.
A cute little bell
Aggie put her own twist on a stitch guide by Julia Snyder. It jingles!
A precious pillow stitched by Mary Susan
I’m done! This piece was so much fun to stitch!
The wheat stalks are a combination of stem stitch, buttonhole, rope stitch, basketweave, and split satin stitch. Whew! That’s a mouthful!
Oddly enough, the pumpkins were the hardest thing to figure out. I tried basketweave beading, various stitches and a strung and tacked beading approach. My husband vetoed all of them.
So, I tried a new padding technique that I’m in LOVE with.
Here’s a closeup of what has now become known as “Becki’s Bargello”
The moon was a little tedious with two threads for the stitch and a bead in between. But it was worth it. It totally glows.
Every canvas has a mystery. And on this piece it was the gate. Or is it a path? I took a poll at the retreat and the room was divided. I decided it was a gate. A path just looked weird to me. But make it whatever you want. I always say “It’s your piece.”
Just putting the finishing touches on the stitch guide and then the kits will go out.

The next installment of the Melissa Prince Birdhouse club is finished!
The snow has just fallen on this adorable little birdhouse. It’s still falling slightly in the background.
Just a hint of a stitch called “Crazy Rain” with a #8 braid Kreinik.
Kits will ship soon. Just waiting on threads!
The Leigh trunk show has so many beautiful canvases. Check them out!
