I did manage to do some stitching this weekend.  I snagged this cutie pie from the Artists Collection trunk show.

I LOVE Mile High Princess designs!

I ran out of background and I vowed I wouldn’t go into the shop on my day off today.  It will just have to wait till tomorrow.

This was the first piece that I taught at The Enriched Stitch.  I had been dying to stitch this piece for years.  There seems to be a lot of interest in this piece lately, so I thought I’d share mine with you.  Now I’m motivated to finish it.

The fish is done in a simple Kalem stitch.

It’s hard to tell from the picture, but the raccoon’s tail is really thick.

The bear is done in split stitch.  Now I’ve got to stitch the mama bear!

I started this nativity last fall. I have grand ambitions to have it finished for this Christmas. We’ll see.  Who’s taking bets?

When I first met the amazingly talented Becki (who works at the shop now), she was working on this amazing piece.  Her husband bought it for her for Christmas a few years back.  He just picked out a piece that he thought she would like.  Isn’t he the best husband ever?  My husband wouldn’t even buy me gift certificate to the LNS before I owned a shop.

We worked together on the finishing, which was done by Pillows by Evelyn.  We selected a turquoise silk for the sides of the boxed pillow and added huge tassels on the corners.  This is the most stunning piece of needlepoint I’ve ever seen. Evelyn even called me to tell me that she had never seen such a magnificent  piece.

Melissa is by far one of my favorite designers.  I guess that explains why I am stitching six of her pieces as a club.  I just couldn’t resist the mini birdhouses.  Here’s her brand new designs from the Dallas market.

I am busy creating a state of the art classroom that will make The Enriched Stitch the premier needlepoint teaching facility in the North East.  I’ll be sure to post pictures when it’s done.

We are located about an hour north of New York City and an hour south of Hartford, CT.  The closest airport is White Plains, NY.  But, since this is a smaller airport, not as many flights are available.  We are about an hour drive from LaGuardia and Kennedy airports and about 1 1/2 hours from Bradley International Airport outside of Hartford.

There is an Amtrak station in Stamford, CT which is about 20 minutes from the shop.  You can also hop on a connecting train to Wilton that will drop you 2 minutes from the shop.

As for hotels, the closest places are:

1. Courtyard Marriot (Norwalk – 5 minutes from the shop)

2. Hilton Garden Inn (Norwalk – 5 minutes from the shop)

3. Four Points Sheraton (Norwalk – 5 minutes from the shop)

4. Judy Furie stayed at a microtel in Bethel/Danbury which is about a 1/2 hour north of the shop.  I don’t know much about that but she said it was lovely.

There are a lot places to stay.  Google is a wonderful thing!

I just want to clarify that the shop that I was talking about in the Rumor Has It blog was NOT another needlepoint shop.  A few customers have asked me if it was a certain shop that was spreading the rumor.  So, I just wanted to clarify.  This was a shop of another industry in a neighboring town.  How they got this information is beyond me.

In my experience, needlepointers are really nice group of people who just want to share their love and obsession with the art form.  The last thing I would want to happen is bad blood between shops in our small industry.

She has done such a beautiful job stitching this classic piece.  But of course it has a little Aggie bling!
