Happy Birthday to Us!

The Enriched Stitch is one year old today!  Boy how time flies!  It has been the most exciting and fantastic journey. I have made new friends, both customers and the women who bust their humps every day working at the shop.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane.

When I first showed my husband and best friend the space I was going to rent, they thought I had lost my mind.

That’s the blue wall now

Talk about a dark and dingy dungeon!

 Opening day

and brought the Fab First with her

Robin King came to teach in November

Look at us now!

I have so many plans for the next year.  More visiting teachers, a retreat, exclusive designs, clubs and whatever else wakes me up in the middle of the night.  We are currently working on expanding the store to an entire other floor, nearly doubling the size!  I am building a state of the art classroom that will host an unparalleled class schedule.

I am so fortunate to have wonderful customers, friends and coworkers.  I love my happy place!

Thanks to Nancy, Aggie, Mary Susan, Debbie and Becki for all of your help day after day (and for putting up with me).  You bring extra energy to the shop and together we make magic.

More on Twinkles

I received a number of questions regarding the new fiber Twinkles from Gone Stitching.  I tried it out today on blank canvas.  It is kind of like a Silk Lame Braid, between petite and for 18 mesh.  But, it is a rayon thread with a blending filament in it. It is twisted like a Perle Cotton.  Here’s a close up.

I really like working with it.  It slides through the canvas.  The sparkle in it is very subtle.

Let me know if you have any other questions about this thread.  I hope this helped!

Two Little Blackbirds

This piece makes me SO happy!  Brand new from Melissa Shirley.

Trellis background stitch from June McKnight’s new book “Colorful Backgrounds”

The flower is Milanese stitch done in different directions.

I think my dandelion poofs need a little trimming.  Turkey Work with Wisper, anyone?

No, the birds are not beaded.  I stitched them with Fyrewerks metallic.  It is the Airplane stitch, from Colorful Backgrounds, as well.

This design comes in 2 other color ways.  It is on 13 mesh and measures 14 x 8.  Check out Melissa’s website to see the other colors.

It’s 1650 A, 1650 B, 1650 C.  There are also smaller sizes and it is also done as a clutch purse.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

We just received a fun new thread today . . .Twinkles.  It is a little bit like Silk Lame Braid but is the weight between a Kreinik #8 braid and #12 braid.  It is a dream on 18 mesh.  It  works perfectly when you need a little more coverage than #8 braid.

It comes in 34 colors.  $3.75

Mini Swirly Snowmen

Many people told me how much they loved the Swirly Snowmen piece by Ewe & Eye but they don’t want to stitch something that large. So, Nancy asked if my stitch guide for the large piece could be applied to the mini snowmen.  I took a look at them and I don’t see why not.  All that needs to be modified is the red border, since it isn’t on the original piece.

Check it out!

Becki’s Bunny

Our talented Becki has this piece up next in the teaching queue. A perfect piece to stitch in the spring season.

Canvas: $160  Thread Kit: TBD

Class Level: Advanced Intermediate

Class Dates: April 6th, 20th, May 4th 10-12

The basket is beaded.  She’s still working on stuffing the basket.

It is amazing what light coverage can do for a piece.  One or two ply. . . oh my!

She’s got some Swarovski cubed beads hiding in the flowers.  I think she’s been busy on artbeads.com

Give us a call 203-210-5107 or email to sign up.  Class is available via Skype as well.
