Circles and Curves Zoom Class

How many times have you tried to stitch something round on a canvas, only to have it look jagged and messy?  If so, then this class is for you!

January 27th at 12:30EST

I will take you through Chain Stitch, Outline and Stem Stitch, Rhodes Stitches, Raised Stem Band, Couching and Woven Spiders.  Not sure what those stitches are?  Let’s take a look at some examples.

The red and white scarf is an example of Raised Stem Band.

The black rope lines are an example of Couching.

Those are just a few examples that you will learn about.

I have lots of other Zoom classes in the works so stay tuned!

Seasonal Topiaries Club

When I saw these canvases at market last month I just knew we had to offer a club.  I think they would be darling hanging from a doorknob so you can change them out seasonally.

They would be perfect to fit into the HOME canvas that I designed.  Just finish it with a magnet and you can pop it onto the canvas where the “O” goes.

Patricia Sone did a beautiful job designing and stitching these pieces!

There are four canvases in the club which starts March 2022.

Each canvas is 4 inches round on 18 mesh.

Each installment includes the canvas, stitch guide and threads.

You can sign up online or by calling the shop. Sign ups close on December 31st!

Oh Christmas Tree

Christmas is such a magical time of year.  I love everything about it.  Well . . . maybe not everything.

My favorite part of Christmas is putting up my needlepoint tree.

Over the years I have made my son an ornament every year.  When he was about 8 he was obsessed with Titanic.

The Little Tykes car was actually my son’s idea to paint on canvas.  One day he said to me, “You know what you should needlepoint?  The toon car with a Christmas tree on it.”

He called this “The Toon Car” after the car that was in the Micky Mouse show he used to watch as a kid.

Probably my favorite ornament of all time is the mommy and baby penguin.

I was going through canvases one year and asking my son to pick out a canvas he wanted me to stitch.  He didn’t pick this one first.  But then he said that he should have picked this one after he had picked another.  I asked why and he said, “Because it’s you and me.”  Talk about melting a mother’s heart!

I’ll be sure to share more stories about my tree over the next few weeks!

Local Needlepoint Shop Day

We are SO excited to have Krista from Penny Linn Designs stopping by on Saturday November 13th from 1-3!  The trunk show is in the shop for a brief time and everything is 20% off!  Just enter the coupon code Penny20 at the checkout in the online store.

If you aren’t familiar with these designs, here’s a few to tempt you.

The moment I saw the New England piece I knew I had to stitch it.  The background comes white but I wanted it to look like burlap so I changed the color.  Zoom in on the basket.  It’s dimensional!

You can see everything that is in stock by clicking on the link.

Remember to enter the discount code Penny20 to receive the discount.  Or, you can always call the shop to order! 203-210-5107

Market Reveal

Andrea and I had the best weekend at The Autumn Needlepoint Reunion!  It took a few days, but I’ve finally recovered from all the fun (and work).  As promised, here is what I brought home from the show!

If you see something you like, give us a call to order!

NEW SCOTT PARTRIDGE

Since these are all new designs, I don’t have inventory on them yet. Hopefully in January!  If you want more info on any of these pieces, feel free to reach out!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Hello dear readers!  I wanted to take a moment to talk about a cause that is near and dear to my heart.  For those of you who don’t know, I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 1/2 years ago.  Don’t worry!  I’m fine and cancer free!

Over the last few years, I have done a fundraiser in conjunction with Melissa Prince and Two Sisters Needlepoint.  Unfortunately, I don’t have a new piece for you this year due to the supply chain problems (a blog for another day).  But, for those of you who missed out on the pieces in years past, you can still purchase the kits.

Paint the Town Pink by Melissa Prince

Hopeful Butterfly by Vallerie Needlepoint Gallery (yours truly)

Flamingos for Hope by Melissa Prince

All of these designs have stitch guides to make for easy stitching.

So many women are afflicted by this terrible disease.  My dear friend is going through this right now.  I hope that one day we will find a cure.

Until next time . . . as the needle turns!

It’s Been a While

Hello dear readers! It’s been forever since I’ve blogged!

I just got back from the most fabulous vacation in Block Island. We spent a week on our boat with family friends on their boats. It was a blast!

I didn’t get nearly as much stitching done as I would have liked on vacation. But then again…vacation is for relaxing and doing nothing.

I did manage to stitch one piece. This ornaments is for my dog, Rosie.

This is a series of designs with dogs on them I created for the Spring Virtual Needlepoint Show a few months ago. There are twelve dogs in the series.

I plan on doing more dog breeds so sit tight if you don’t see your pup!

If you’re looking at this and wondering what all the threads are doing in the selvage, I’ll tell you why.

Since the background is an open stitch, I had nowhere to start and end my threads in the design. I stitched the black last so there was nothing to anchor into. So, I left away knots and pin stitches in the selvage to start and end the threads. My finisher will handle the threads in the selvage when she goes to finish it.

If you don’t follow @enrichedstitch on Instagram, you probably aren’t aware that we have a new in house finisher who can still finish plain ornaments (round, square, rectangular, hearts) in time for the holidays. As of right now, our deadline for these kinds of ornaments is September first so you still have plenty of time to get them in to us!

I can’t wait to get this back from finishing!

I promise to blog more. Time just gets away from me. If you don’t want to miss anything, make sure you follow the shop on Instagram and Facebook. There’s daily posts about all that’s going on in the shop!
