New Magnets!

Why do we love these magnets so?  They just make me so happy!

I love when I see an email from Accoutrement Designs with “new magnets” in the subject line.

Here Comes Santa

Amanda Lawford came to visit a few weeks ago.  And since it was my birthday, I treated myself to a number of canvases.  Ok, let’s be honest . . .I can’t control myself when Amanda comes with trunks and suitcases full of canvases.

Somehow, Becki talked me into buying a 30 inch tall Santa on 18 mesh.  I call him my new boyfriend.

big-santa

Clearly Trip doesn’t want his picture taken.

green santa

He may be mine one day.  I see felting and a beautiful coat done in green velvet.  God help me!  I will probably take 25 cards of velvet. Yikes!

I just finished stitching this adorable little piece.  For some reason, I’m on a kick making Christmas pillows.  I guess because the only ones I have in my house are store bought needlepoint pillows and people think I actually made them. Unacceptable!

here-comes-santa

Of course it doesn’t photograph that well, despite my editing the picture.  Those are Swarovski snowflake crystals scattered about the background. Bugle beads line the bottom.

I’m just waiting for the trim and the fabric to come and then off to the finisher it goes.

Let me know if we can kit you up one.  The stitch guide is complete.  It’s only 5 x 8 on 13 mesh.  There’s still plenty of time to stitch and have it finished by Christmas.

plum-pudding

This plum pudding is about one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen.  Leave it to my good friend Susan to stitch another adorable piece.  Susan also stitched what I call the “Jelly Bean Nativity” by Princess and Me.

Harvest Moon

Tell me what’s wrong with this picture.  The other night I was stitching an Easter bunny, while eating apple pie and watching the movie Elf.  Think I’ve got my seasons confused.

I love stitching in season.  It doesn’t happen for me very often any more.  Usually I’m stitching six months ahead of the game.  Right now I’m lucky and stitching away on Harvest Moon by Ewe & Eye.  I know, another piece from Ewe & Eye . .. what can I say? I just LOVE Karen Cruden’s paintings.

harvest-5

I see beaded pumpkins and whatever shall I do with the wheat shafts?

harvest-1

Now to add a little architecture to that boring door.  It definitely needs a doorknob.

harvest-2This is a close up of Becki’s Bargello.  A few months back, Becki emailed a picture of a piece she was working on, the Golden Retriever from CBK.  I had never seen a Bargello pattern quite like that one.  She just blows my mind!

And what a way with color she has.  She pulled four threads and tossed them on the canvas.  I wasn’t quite sure if this was going to be over the top for me, but I thought, “Bargello is easy to rip out.”

Personally, I think the sky is amazing.  But it totally changed what I was planning on doing with the piece.  Everything else had to be heavier, to properly balance the piece.  The real trick is how I’m going to draw your eye away from the very strong sky.  Once I get the wheat/corn stalks (another debate) in and the moon totally stitched, you’ll see what I’m talking about.

harvest-4

I decided this was a gate and that the pathway was on the bottom.  There was much debate over this mystery section of the canvas.  Aggie said the red and brown squares were a walkway.  I thought it was a gate.  That’s my story and I’m stitckin’ to it.

Join me in class October 26th and November 9th 10-12, either in the shop or over the internet via Skype.

Call the shop or email to sign up or for more information.

Kits available for those who cannot attend class.

Fun With Julia

We always have the most amazing time whenever Julia Snyder comes to visit.

Women came from as far away as Massachusetts and North Carolina!

Lisa had to have this Melissa Shirley canvas.  Can’t wait to see the flowers come to life.

Jan fell in love with this tree by Machelle Sommerville.  How much fun?

Page worked on a Charlie Harper. Love those big open backgrounds.

Ann picked this up a while back at the shop.  I’m not sure I could wait 4 months to start a new piece.

photo-(7)

Caryl teaches needlepoint in Rhode Island.  Her students will be amazed by this piece.

photo-(8)

Debbie picked up this beautiful Sandra Gilmore canvas during the trunk show.  This piece will be a sampler in silk ribbons.

photo-1

I’ll stitch this vicariously through Linda.

photo-2

Janine was creating a beautiful skirt for this very classy witch.  Wonder if this witch knows Becki’s coven of witches.

photo-3

Patti, the newest member of the ES team, worked on this Cooper Oaks piece.  Why do we love doors so much? I know I do.

photo-4

Aggie is at it again making beautiful flowers.  Twisted lazy daisies with two different colors of RiverSilks. . . oh my!

photo-5

I even got to be part of the class on Sunday.  (A girl does need her day off . . .sort of) I love this piece, “Zoo Babies” by Charlie Harper.  Totally out of my comfort zone.  So, Julia jump started me.  How nice it is to see a canvas through a different lens.

I will admit, I have been in a stitching rut over the last few months.  Taking this class inspired me again.  So, I’ll hit publish on the blog and I’m going off to stitch the night away.  It is my birthday tomorrow.  I’ll start celebrating early.

Can’t wait to spend the day with Amanda Lawford at the shop tomorrow. She’ll be bringing TONS of canvases.  Shoot me an email if you’re looking for one of her designs.  I hope she brings what I have a bee in my bonnet for.

Bunny Club Updated

I finished the first member of the bunny family in our new club.

pink-1

The club will start in January and ship every three months.  There are four bunnies in the club.  So manageable!

You need to sign up by November 1st to be included in the first shipment.

The cost of the club is $90 for the canvas, which includes the stitch guide.  The thread kit for the first bunny is $94.  Not to worry, I will definitely be reusing some of the threads in the other bunnies.

The bunnies measure 4.75 x 7.75 and are painted on 18 mesh.

pink-2

Afraid of Turkey work? No need.  I have broken this down step by step with diagrams for each step.

pink-3

I gave her a Swarovksi crystal for her eye. Everyone needs a little bling!

And no, the white flowers are not covered beads.

pink4

Don’t you just want to rub her cute little belly?

I can’t wait to get started on the next one.  I have a little other stitching that needs to come first.

bunny 4 bunny 3 new bunny 2

I’m working on finishing up the first tree in the Four Seasons club.  Details to come soon.

Call the shop to sign up by November 1st.
