New Club by Melissa Prince

The Enriched Stitch will be launching a brand new club designed by Melissa Prince.  For months I kept meaning to call Melissa and ask her if she could shrink her beautiful birdhouses.  As much as I love the big ones, I just don’t have the time to stitch all of them.

When I got an email from her with a preview of her new designs for the TNNA market, I called her immediately and asked her if I could offer them as a club.

The club price is $50.  This includes the canvas and stitch guide.  Thread kits are available at an additional cost.

This club will ship EVERY OTHER MONTH.

Dimensions: 4 inch round

Please call the shop or email us to join.  203-210-5107  enrichedstitch@gmail.com

The club will start in May.

I’m Back!

We’ve been having technical difficulties with the website and blog while we were in the process of switching things to a new site.  I know more about web stuff than I ever cared to know.  I’d rather be stitching!

We’ve had a lot going on at the shop.  We hosted our first birthday party for an 8 year old, Jane and her 5 friends.

Aren’t they too cute?  They all worked on a canvas that we designed.  Jane chose a flower design. They picked this up faster than most adults.  And boy are they good with a needle threader!

Aggie will start teaching her Maggie with Aggie class tomorrow.  We have 3 lovely ladies joining us via Skype.  This should be fun!

Isn’t this stunning?

We have so many things planned to celebrate our 1 year anniversary.  I just love parties!  I’ll keep you posted.  Be sure to check out the new classes that will be offered at The Enriched Stitch

Rebecca Wood Santa Shopping in Needlepoint Shop Banner

Stitch along with us!  We just couldn’t resist this canvas.  I put one up in the shop and 10 people have signed on to stitch along with me.

You can join us via Skype or we can send the thread kits and stitch guide to you in 6-8 installments.

Canvas: $400   Dimensions: 20 x 8 1/2   Mesh: 18

Class Fee: $20/class     Thread Kits: TBD   Stitch Guide: FREE with the purchase of canvas and threads

I will break the canvas into 5 or 6 sections.  This makes a large and overwhelming piece manageable.

A little peer pressure in class participation always helps me along!

I’ll be posting my progress right the day of the class.

This will help anyone participating long distance or via Skype will have detailed pictures to guide them.

First class scheduled for Sunday March 24th 1-3

Call the shop 203-210-5107  or email enrichedstitch@gmail.com to sign up

Peacock Ginger Jar Finished!!!!

I just LOVED stitching this piece. So beautiful to look at.

I am working on the stitch guide.

Canvas: $150    Thread Kit: TBD      Stitch Guide: $70

I will be teaching this piece at the shop on Saturday June 1st

Call the shop or email to sign up  203-210-5107      enrichedstitch@gmail.com

Let me take you through the piece

Close up of peacock’s head.  I used the padded satin technique that I used on the gold scrolls to differentiate the head from the body

The plume.  The are 6 different fibers , Threadworxs overdye Kreinik, SIlk Lame Braid, Waterlilies and Painters Palette.

And i had to throw in a few real gold beads!

Close up of stretchy flair technique.  A blog is coming soon on that.

A close look at the border.  This is a Herringbone stitch using Firewerks.  I think that is my favorite thread.  But so hard to choose!

Details of the corner.  I’ve always wanted to use the Norwich stitch and have never had a canvas that it fit on.

The “goldwork” is done in padded satin

I can’t WAIT to start my next piece.  Rebecca, Melissa or Ewe & Eye.  Stay tuned . . .

My Next Project: Melissa Shirley Christmas Village

This arrived at the shop on Thursday.  I can’t wait to stitch it!  I haven’t been able to get back to the shop since we have been snowed in.    So I’ve been furiously basketweaving to finish up the Peacock Ginger Jar.  Then I can’t start this.  It will be in my hot little hands tomorrow!  Which house to start with. . .I think the one with the heart.  But we’ll see.  Stay tuned . . .

Swirly Snowmen Finished!

DONE!  DONE!  DONE!   I love this piece.  It was so much fun to do.

Now I just have to wait for my lucite tray to arrive to send off to the finisher

We were supposed to have the last class this morning.  But, since we are buried under 2 feet of snow, we’re going to shoot for tomorrow.  So, I thought I would share all the details today while I’m hanging out at home.

Canvas: $140

Kit: $149

Stitch Guide: Included (no charge) with the purchase of canvas and threads.  Stitch guide available for purchase separately $75

The top hat is padded in some sections and satin stitched on top using different sizes of RiverSilks

The inner body of the snowman.  Yep, there’s beads.  And lots of them!

The outer body was a snowflake trame stitch.  Thank you Julia Snyder!

The bright red cardinals sit atop the arms that are memory thread wrapped with perle cotton

Gotta love that corkscrew stitch!

I was determined to make a Burberry scarf.  Plaiding was the answer, even though it doesn’t curve.  It’s a cool technique.  Only to be done when one can pay attention.  This is not a stitch that goes well with a glass of wine.  Too much counting!

Recap of the red snowman’s hat.  Raise buttonhole done on a curve

This hat used 3 techniques: Raised buttonhole on a curve, wrapped spider and turkey work

I’m always looking for new techniques and stitches.   I hope you’ve enjoyed looking at this piece.  If you are interested in purchasing any part of the kit, please email or call the shop.  enrichedstitch@gmail.com   203-210-5107

Off to finish the peacock ginger jar!

Elizabeth Turner Collection has new self-finishing key fobs

Some needle buddies

More needle buddies

Some new magnets from Accoutrement Designs.  I spent some time with Lisa today. She is such a love!

Julia Snyder has a brand new book

Kelly Clark has a new stumpwork sampler.  This piece is spectacular.  On a side note, Kelly is the nicest person.  They ran out of samplers as I was waiting.  Which was fine.  I was happy to order one.  A little while later while I was walking through the needlepoint gallery show, Kelly came to find me since they had found one more canvas buried in a bag.  She goes above and beyond to get customers what they want!

Danji has created these mice.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I see a club  . . .we just need to fill it out with a Christmas and Halloween mouse.  Good thing they have those.

I just LOVE these t-shirts.  I have one to bring home, but not to sell.  I’ve been living in it. But, it’s coming in in white and teal in all of the sizes.

The Collection has new sew-on Swarovski crystals in various sizes.  They also come as little tiny flowers They’ve got some really funky square beads, too.

Sundance Designs has a new sampler piece that uses beads, Sparkles and other new embelishments.

Market Day 3: Show Time!

So much to say.   SO MUCH FUN!!!!!  This is needlepoint heaven!  Let’s see what I can remember from today and what I ordered.

Cooper Oaks has great lucite boxes and trays to insert finished canvases into. The perfect solution for my Swirly Snowmen piece.  A much easier solution than I thought.  They also have lucite clipboards and notepad holders that you insert a small canvas into. Great use for a finished canvas.

Barbara Bergsten has great new shifts and adorable stitch painted Santas.    http://barbarabergstendesigns.com/

Beth Gantz has some new letter designs.  Perfect for kids.  Lovin’ some of her new signs.

Princess & Me has adorable new designs.  Check another page on the blog to see pics.      http://enrichedstitch.com/more-sneak-peeks/

& More has more (and smaller) versions of her famous striped canvases.  Here’s a few of the sayings:

  Stitch On

Party On

Laugh On

I Am My Mother

Always Kiss You Goodnight (way smaller)

Give Thanks (shrunk down)

Baby Dreaming (in blue and pick)

Be a Star

and my personal favorite . . Be Nice Or Leave

A few new Maggie and Ewe & Eye designs are on their way.  You know how much we love them!

Unique NZ Designs has some great new pieces

We’ll also be getting in the 4 inch rounds of “Keep Calm and Carry On” “Keep Calm and Stitch On” “Keep Calm and Freak Out” and “Keep Calm and Wait For Santa”

Danji will get it’s own blog.  Wait till you see the new club from them.  TOO CUTE!

A couple of Leigh’s Femme Fatale ladys will be gracing our boards.

Amanda Lawford . . .That will take a few blogs. But I will say, stunning as always.  DC Designs (her son Derek’s design company) is so whimsical and fun.  Look for tons of designs to be coming in to the shop.

June McKnight has a new book, “Colorful Backgrounds.”  I wish I could have hung around her booth long enough to read the entire book.  I thought that might be rude.  The first 6 copies will be autographed so let me know if you want one.

I found some adorable little (and when I say little I mean REALLY TINY) pieces that are self finishing from Cheryl Schaeffer Designs. She’s got lot’s of really cute dog things for all you Black and Yellow Lab owners.

The Deeva has outdone herself.  Check her website to see her new designs.

http://www.needledeeva.com/whats_new.html

I see another club from the Deeva in our future.   Just imagine the Whirlygigs.

Then I visited the Melissas.  Melissa Prince and Melissa Shirley

Melissa Prince has a few new African inspired designs.  The partridge in a pear tree is beautiful.  And those birdhouses she is famous for, well let’s just say I see tiny ones in our future.

Melissa Shirley has released all of her new designs on her website.   http://www.melissashirleydesigns.com/gallery/?bsn=1

This is what I ordered.

1650-A (Birds with Green Background)

1627-A (Christmas Village).  On it’s way to the shop

1627 -B (the Easter Village)

1602-A through 1602-H (the Easter crackers).  In stock now.

1627-C (Halloween Village)

and of course, the Peacock Ginger Jar 1665.  By the way, I showed Melissa my stitched piece and she told me that it was just what she had envisioned.  Could there be a higher complement?

There’s plenty more, but can’t list them all.

Kathy Schenkel has some adorable new designs with black and yellow labs.  The girl scout and Brownie are pretty cute.

I had a visit with Raymond Crawford.  I’ve already shown you my favorite piece.  I think I see a class in the future.

Stay tuned . . .I’ll post pics of all of these canvases as they arrive.  But what will tomorrow bring.  It’s my last day here.  Guess I better go play with some threads.
