Market Day 2

Yesterday I took a class with Sandra Arthur on the piece by Leigh called “Nightcap.”

We learned the Japanese ribbon stitch.  Played with a few new threads to me, Bijoux and Accentuate.  Lovin’ both.  Might be making their way to the shop.  She also used that stretchy flair technique that I used on the flowers on the peacock ginger jar.

And by the way, who knew that Sandy Arthur was secretly a stand up comic.  We laughed through the whole class!

Then it was off to “Sample It.”  This is the only time during this market that shop owners can purchase anything.  I’ll show you that in my next post.  Don’t have time to get the pics up.  Off to another class with Cynthia Thomas!

Market Day 1

Yesterday was my first full day of market experience.   I took two classes with

Vicky DeAngeles.  The first was Plum Pudding by Kirk & Hamilton.

This is what I accomplished during class.

The second class was the Joy Cupcake by Needle Deeva

My progress

Vicky is such a great teacher. I can’t wait for her to come teach at the shop.  It was so great getting to know the other women in the class.  A wealth of knowledge!

What are friends for?

My stitching group has been together for several years now.  We meet once a week and stitch and chat and have a good time.  Recently one of our members had a big birthday.  We decided to acknowledge it the best way we knew how, by stitching something special.  We started with the “friends” canvas by & More.  We devised a stitching plan and each one of us stitched a stripe.  Nancy, who many of you know from the shop, did all of the beading.  We gave it to her recently at one of our stitching gatherings.  She was so surprised and touched.  It was a wonderful way to celebrate.

If you think you might want to do something similar, call the shop(203-210-5107) and we can help you with your surprise!

Peacock Ginger Jar: First Look

Here’s my progress on the brand new design by Melissa Shirley.  Lovin’ this piece!
