I’ve noted which pieces have stitch guides so let us know if you’d like to add that and the thread kit to your order. If I didn’t mention a guide, we don’t have one for it.

So, take a good look through at all of our canvases and give us a call or shoot us an email to order. Please don’t make comments on the blog about wanting a canvas. I’m not getting religious on you…that’s the last thing I want to talk about on my blog. What I’m talking about today is how my new Santas come to life.

I’m sure you’ve seen the new Santa designs I did for the Orlando show. They are 9 inches on 18 mesh or 12 inches on 13 mesh. They were so much fun to paint and stitch!

I stitched the White Santa and the Beach Santa.

Mary Susan stitches the Patriotic Santa and the Courtly Santa.

Kim stitched the Fifth Avenue Santa. Aren’t they fabulous?

So….how do these come to life in the first place?

I started with his face and a rough outline. Kinda strange to see just a face peeking out of a canvas.

Then he starts to get his toys and some color. Sometimes I know exactly what I want to do and hopefully it works out. But sometimes it doesn’t. The Fifth Avenue Santa went through a number of costume changes and almost had scissors taken to him. Lol!

I really have to think about what colors to use where so you don’t get a group of toys that are all the same color together. Balance baby…it’s all about balance.

Sometimes there’s more white paint on my master copy than there is colored paint since I’ve changed the design so many times. But you’ll never know because you’ll never see my masters lol!

Big news here at The Enriched Stitch!  Kelly Clark will be coming back to teach October 16, 17, 18.  She’ll be teaching this fabulous new piece that she designed for us.

I don’t have many details on the class right now but I wouldn’t hesitate to sign up because this class is gonna sell out fast!  Here’s what I know.

The canvas measures 7.25 x 11 on 18 mesh.  (Like we really care how big it is since it’s so fabulous)

Class is three days: October 16, 17, 18

Class fee is $300 and includes three days of instruction from 10-4 and lunch.  The canvas, threads and guide are additional but I have no idea what those prices will be.  But like I said before . . . who cares?  It’s Kelly and a beautiful piece.  I’m sure there will be a little stumpwork, silk ribbon and beads thrown in.  It wouldn’t be a Kelly piece without it!

You can call the shop to sign up and all you’ll pay for right now is the class fee.  The kit fee will be due a month or so before the class.  Class size is limited to 10 so don’t wait!

There’s nothing better than a new needlepoint show!  The hotel is buzzing and everyone is so excited.  The show opens in a few hours so I’ve got to make this quick.

I’ve been busy painting new designs over the last six months.  Mary Susan, Kim, Aggie and I have been stitching like crazy.  I love getting a brand new design in and being the first one to stitch it.  Although, by that point, I’ve pretty much stitched it in my head while I was painting it . . .or rather painted it for how I want to stitch it.  Kinda cool . . .a bit of a control freak . . .yes indeed.

You all know and love the artist I translate to canvas, Kim Leo.

I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. We are celebrating seven years this weekend since I opened the doors of The Enriched Stitch. It’s been a wild ride over the last seven years and I wouldn’t trade a minute of it. Well . . .maybe a few minutes of it. LOL!

Opening the shop is one of the best things I’ve ever done.I have met so many great people over the years and am amazed every day by my customers and staff. We have become a wonderful community throughout the years. We’ve been through so much together, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

This isn’t the only reason I feel like I’m the luckiest girl in the world. You’ve probably noticed over the last few months I haven’t been around much. (I hope you’ve missed me! LOL!) I was diagnosed with breast cancer in early January. I’ll skip to the end before you freak out. I am cancer free and just found out that I won’t need chemo!!!!!!!

It has been a roller coaster ride since that first day. Some good days, a lot of bad days . . .but I’m through all that now. I still need to do radiation in a month , so you might not see me around the shop very much then. But I’m back in the saddle and ready to get things rolling again. I never thought when I painted the breast cancer heart last summer that it would have the meaning it does to me now. Funny how life turns out.

I initially painted this for my dear friend, Melissa Prince, who went through this 25 years ago. I couldn’t have gotten through this without her, all the women at the shop and my wonderful family. You’ve heard every detail. . .seen me cry (which never happens in front of anyone) . . .listened to my fears and anxiety and helped me every step of the way. You all mean the world to me! I know the roller coaster hasn’t come to a complete stop yet, but for now things are looking up.

So . . .we’re having a party! We’d be celebrating the anniversary of the store this weekend anyway, but I have so much more to celebrate. So, if you’re in the area, stop by the shop tomorrow, March 16th (even though the anniversary is really on St. Patrick’s Day). We’re gonna have free giveaways, special deals and discounts and most importantly . . . A LOT OF FUN!

Planet Earth has launched a new thread line called “Essentials.”  I totally agree with the name.  It is a must have!

Here’s the skinny on this thread.  It is a 50/50 blend of silk and wool. It feels great in your hand.  Stitches smoothly and evenly. There’s 10 yards on each card. 130 colors and more to come!

I have been begging Tracy, who owns Planet Earth, to make this thread for years!  She told me this has been a work in progress for almost two years.  And I thought it took a long time to paint a canvas and stitch it!

I love everything from Planet Earth.  All the threads, the new jewelry boxes, credit card holder and wallets, luggage tags and tote bags.  Tracy is innovative and always trying to come up with something new and different.

There are tons of new designs out there for all these pieces.  I know Associated Talents, VNG (Vallerie Needlepoint Gallery) Planet Earth , The Meredith Collection and other designers I can’t recall off the top of my head have designs as well.

I’m feeling inspired to paint a few more designs for these pieces right now.  Here’s what I’ve painted so far.

I’ve been working on one of my new designs for the Spring Needlepoint Show with Essentials.  I can’t show you the entire piece yet, but here’s a bit of the background.

You can see how nicely this thread stitches up in Tent Stitch.  It fills the holes perfectly without packing the thread in too tightly.  When the thread is too thick, it makes everything look messy.  I have very loose tension so this thread is perfect for me.  So, if you’ve ever thought that Pepper Pot was too thick for 18 (personally I use it on 13 mesh), then this is the thread for you!
