The City of Lights

All I can say is WOW!

Becki just finished up this stunning piece by a hot, new designer, Abigail Cecile.  I’ve tried fifteen times to make the full picture bigger and I can’t figure it out.  So here’s some closeups.

Becki picks the most unique stitches.  I’ve tried using stitches like she does and it just doesn’t work for me.  But she puts these stitches together and it’s magic!  I wish this piece photographed better.  It is stunning in person.

So many people have come into the shop and admired it, begging her to write the stitch guide.  So your wish is our command!  She promises to have it done next week.  (Hint . . .hint . . .Becki. LOL!)

We’ve already sold out the copies that we had ordered but we can definitely get more.  Give us a call at the shop if you’d like to order a kit.  203-210-5107

The London rooftops are up next for Becki.  She’s got that one started.  And I’ll tell you that the sky on this one is just as good, if not better.

I might try a little something from Abigail Cecile.  I think this little floral piece is just adorable.  It would be a fabulous little class piece.

Mary Susan bought this piece a few weeks ago.  I don’t have a finished picture of this little ornament, but I’ll get one.  It’s just darling what she did.  I know there will be a guide for that one too.  Not sure if Mary Susan knows that yet.  lol!

Sharkpacolypse!

Shark Week started yesterday.  A VERY big deal in our house.  My son, Trip, is obsessed with sharks.  We’ve seen all the movies.  Yes . . .I’ve let him watch them.  I figure that they can’t be nearly as bad as the shark attacks he watches on YouTube.  LOL!

So, of course I’ve stitched him a few shark pieces since the obsession began over a year ago.

Last summer I stitched the Jaws movie coaster by Melissa Prince.

That one is framed and hanging over his bed.

Notice the shark game he’s playing in the background. . .lol

His Christmas ornament this year was supposed to be the shark mini stocking from Kathy Schenkel.

He was at the store when the box of finishing arrive a few weeks ago and snatched it up right away and wanted to take it home.  Now it’s hanging from a knob on one of my kitchen cabinets.  The scuba diver is painted with blonde hair.  But of course I had to change it to “strawberry brown” as he refers to his hair  color.  Don’t ever tell him he has red hair.  The shark in him comes out!

A Little Love for a Great Cause

A month or so ago I shared with you that my son is Autistic, which was a really hard blog for me to write, if I’m being honest.  I designed a canvas to support the charity Autism Speaks.  I think it’s important to do whatever we can do to raise awareness for any cause, whatever it is.

Last week I received my Autism heart back from the finisher.

She did a bang up job! I found these adorable charms on Etsy to hang from the bottom of the heart.  We have a limited amount of the charms for the finishing in stock.  So, if you want those, now is the time to order.

You can order online or by calling the shop. 203-210-5107

I’d love to hear your suggestions for other causes and charities that I can design a canvas to benefit that charity.

A Weekend with Jo and Beatrice

It’s been so crazy lately I haven’t had a chance to tell you about Jo Christensen’s classes.

The “Canvas Empowerment” class was SO informative.

Jo had a stitch plan prepared for each student and the specific piece that they chose to work on during class.  She talked about understanding canvases from an artistic perspective and what types of stitches and threads to use.

Kate Dickerson joined us for the class with Beatrice the bunny.

This piece is amazing!  We have one kit left in stock.  This piece is exclusive to where Jo teaches the class. So, if you want Beatrice to come home with you, here’s your chance!

What a Weekend!

Fourth of July weekend is like Christmas for my husbands’s family.  I guess it’s the high holiday for boaters lol!

This weekend started back last Thursday on our 15th wedding anniversary.  I can’t believe it’s been fifteen years since we got married.  Might be time for an upgrade.  (Just kidding)

So Thursday night Ray, Trip and I went to dinner at our favorite restaurant on the water in the marina where my in laws live on their boat.  Yep . . .you read that right.  They love on a boat and have for 18 years.

Friday night Ray and I went out to a fabulous dinner alone at the restaurant in South Norwalk where we got back together 17 years ago.  I have to give my husband the credit for that idea.

Friday and Saturday were crazy at the store and then I had to scoot up to my sister in law’s house for “Christmas in July.”  (I wasn’t kidding there.)

Ray’s sister, Christine, comes up for the holiday weekend from Panama.  It’s the only time of year we get to visit with her.  So it’s a really big deal for our family.

I crashed on Saturday night by 10 o’clock.  I was shot.

Sunday we were off to the boat.

The boys spent the afternoon on the water and I hung out and stitched with my mother in law on her boat.

I got a little time to myself on Monday during the day since my husband was working from home.  Then off we went again to the fireworks.

Tuesday we were off an running to our boat for another beautiful day on the water.

I’m not sure which view I liked better. . .my canvas or my little guy having a ball in the water.   I had to grab a Kate Dickerson piece from the current trunk show.  You know me!

What a whirlwind of a weekend.  Not a lot of stitching time but so much fun!

I just love trunk shows.  The Painted Pony Galleried Artists trunk show was delivered Thursday afternoon just as we were closing.  Yesterday morning while I was unpacking the trunk show a few pieces flew out immediately to our customer’s stashes.

This is just a small sampling of what we received.  Click on the links below to see the featured artists.

Any of the in stock canvases from these artists are 20% off now through July 29th.  All special orders from these collections are 15% off.  What a way to start to the holiday weekend!  We’re open till 3 today, as usual.  So stop by and check out the trunk show if you’re local.  If not, give us a buzz!

We will be closed Sunday-Tuesday and will reopen on Wednesday the 5th.

You might disagree

But we LOVE Tom Brady at The Enriched Stitch. Mary Susan just got her GOAT canvas back from the finisher.

And yes…that’s Tom’s number in the letters. If you’re a Patriots fan, or have someone in your life who is, then this is a must stitch.

Mary Susan bought ribbon on Etsy to finish off the ornament. Let us know if you want to purchase the ribbon when you get your canvas. The ribbon is limited edition at the shop.

Now I have to stitch my husband one of them!
