Our Newest Club

So many people have requested that I make Melissa Prince’s 12 Days of Christmas wreath a club.  Your wish is my command!

Have you ever wanted to stitch a 12 Days of Christmas series but shied away because of the price of twelve canvases? If so, then stitch along with us in our newest club! One canvas . . .4 installments.

This design is so versatile! It can be finished as a wreath, a table top tree skirt or a votive candle holder. One canvas . . .one finishing . . .you can’t beat that!

Melissa’s favorite part is the bagpiper.  Check out the cheeks!
I’m torn between the French hen and the dancing lady as my favorite.
Linda made these fabulous rings for me.  I promise it’s not as hard as it looks!
I still have to finish the background.  But I’m in the home stretch.  Wait till you see the crystals I’ve ordered for the holly berries!
Club starts in late July/early August 2017
We will ship you the canvas, threads for the first half of the stitch guide and the first installment of the stitch guide. The second month you will be emailed that portion of the guide. On month three you will receive the remaining threads and guide. And on month four you will receive the guide via email.

All Aboard the Orient Express

The Destination Dallas market in September is the highlight of the year in the needlepoint industry.  And Aggie and I were lucky enough to be chosen to teach at the show this year!

I will be teaching a Melissa Prince movie coaster of Murder on the Orient Express.  How fitting since it’s the them of the show.

And you know how much I love stitching these little pieces.

Aggie will make her national teaching debut with this piece by Julie Mar Designs.

We’re so excited to be participating in such a wonderful event!

Early Bird Special

We have made an update to the classes that will be offered at the Needlepoint in New England Retreat next year.

We have added “Bunny in the Garden” that Becki will stitching.

When we saw this little guy we just couldn’t resist.  You know how crazy we are about bunnies around here!  He’s (I don’t know why I assume the bunny is a boy) is 8 x 8 on 18 mesh.

Here’s a look at our full lineup of classes.  The early bird registration ends on May 15th.  So if you’re thinking about joining us for three days of needlepoint bliss, don’t wait!

All of the details for the retreat are on the website. So click here to read more about it or to sign up.

Derby Day

The Kentucky Derby was a few days ago and the ladies were dressed to the nines sporting those famous fascinators.  Have you seen our series of exclusive designs by Leigh Designs?

They are now available as individual kits.  Meet the ladies . . .

Dazzling

Glamourous

Magnificence

Ravishing

These ladies have the most fabulous hair!

Becki stitched Ravishing and Glamorous. Aggie stitched Magnificence.  And I stitched Dazzling.  I have to say I think that these are some of the prettiest pieces we’ve ever stitched.

Give us a call at the shop if you’d like to take one of the ladies home with you.  We have more on order since our first round of canvases flew out the door.  And no  . . .that wasn’t meant to be a bad joke referring to birds. LOL!

Dressed to Kill

Look who’s back from the framer!

Sasha! AKA The Lady in Red

Of course this photograph doesn’t do her justice.  If you’re in the area you should stop by and see her.  She’s amazing!

Apparently she was challenging to frame with her tulle skirt.  So, the framer did a double raised matte with a crisp silver frame.

Sasha is available exclusively through The Enriched Stitch

I hope you will join us for a fantastic weekend of stitching and fun!

On the First Day of Christmas

I’ve been stitching away like crazy lately!  The two most common questions people ask me is “Do you sleep?” and “How do you have time to stitch so much?”  I do in fact sleep quite a bit.  However, I do get up really early, usually around 5,  since my husband commutes into NYC and catches a 6:30 train.  My little guy gets on the bus at 7 so it’s early mornings in the Vallerie household.  But, I don’t mind.  I actually get a ton of stuff done early in the morning.

By the afternoon I’m pretty wiped when I get home at 2:30.  That’s when the little prince is delivered back to me. LOL!   So, that’s become my stitching time.  My favorite day to stitch is Sunday.  I’ll stitch for eight hours that day if I can.  Sounds pretty good, right?

I’ve been working on Melissa Prince’s 12 Days of Christmas Wreath.

I’ve made a lot of progress on the background.  I usually do my backgrounds first because it is so much easier to count a background stitch through open holes on a canvas.  I’ve made the mistake of leaving the background till the end one too many times.

The partridge and the pear are done. Well . . .minus the stem of the pear.  Gotta find a little Perle Coton and make a Bullion Knot.  That idea just came to me as I was typing.  I was just oging to do something boring like tack down a piece of 16 braid Kreinik.  No fun in that!

I love the French Hen!  Check out his beret and knitted sweater.  He’s looking very dapper if I do say so myself.

If you’d like to join in the fun and order a kit, you can sign up online or by calling the shop.

203-210-5107The kits will ship in July.  So, if you want to be included in the first shipment you must sign up by May 15th.

This is really the best 12 Days piece out there because of the way Melissa designed it.  It may be a larger piece, about 14 inches in diameter.  But think of it this way.   If you stitched 12 4 inch round ornaments that’s approximately 12.5 square inches of stitching per ornament.  And each canvas would probably run about $55/$60.  So that’s over 144 square inches of stitching.  The wreath is about the same amount of stitching, 154 square inches to be exact, but you don’t have to stitch the center so take out about 20 inches.

So, you get a lot more bang for your buck with one larger piece to stitch.  AND . . .one finishing cost!  For 12 ornaments the finishing could be around $1000. I’m not sure what it will cost to finish this as an actual wreath.  But I can assure you it won’t be nearly that at all.

Getting My Head Above Water

Last week was a CRAZY week!  My family took a lovely vacation to St. Thomas the week before Easter.  It was so wonderful and relaxing.

Cocktails at noon. . .

 fabulous restaurants . . .

beautiful weather . . . and that gorgeous Caribbean water . . .

who could ask for more?

But all good things come to an end.  So it was back to reality.  And my how the work had piled up while I was gone!

Surprisingly I didn’t stitch that much on vacation.  But I did read 5 books.  LOL!  I did manage to stitch up this little Kathy Schenkel mini stocking for my budding marine biologist for his Christmas ornament.

It feels so good to be ahead of the game for a change!
