Black and White and Fun All Over

Look who just hopped back into the shop!

How cute is he?

This was such a fun piece to stitch.  I rarely stitch anything just for myself these days.  I’m always working on something for a class or a model for a designer.  So this little guy was a treat for me.

I just LOVE the black and white pom pom trim that Linda found for him.  I think he might need a friend.  What do you think?

Stay Up to Date

We always have so many great classes and events going on at The Enriched Stitch.  Make sure you stay up to date by

1.  subscribing to the blog

2. subscribe to our email list

3. like us on facebook

You just never know where I’m going to post something first!  And sometimes I think I’ve posted something in all three social media outlets and I forget one.

Keeping up with all of this is a full time job. LOL!

When I Look into the Future . . .

I just might see these two pieces on bars.

These are two new designs from Strictly Christmas and I am TOTALLY in love with them.

They come as a set.  And the cool thing is the Deux Bijou Bijou makes a custom frame for the tryptic.

These will definitely be in my future.  I already ordered them.  Will they be in yours?  Possibly in a stitch along?

Let’s Have Some Fun This Weekend

We have a lot of fun events and classes planned over the next few months.  But here’s what’s on tap this Saturday, January 7th

Get Over the Hump Class  10:30-12:30

Refresh Your Finishing  10-12

Before you put away all of your holiday needlepoint, bring some pieces to the shop this Saturday and Mary Susan will show you had to spruce them up with new bows, ribbons and embellishments. No need to be intimidated by making bows.  She’ll teach you how to make fabulous bows that will make your old ornaments look new again. Adds few jingle bells and other goodies and voila!
No fee or registration required. Treat yourself this Saturday to a little “me time” at the shop

Lumber Exchange  12:30-2:30

Is your drawer full of stretcher bars overflowing? Have 10 sets of 9 inch bars but no 10 inch bars? If so, stop by and exchange your extra bars for a size that you need. Write the length on the bars before you come. Just leave the same amount that you take!

What’s Cookin’ in February

February is an important month for the needlepoint community. We will be holding our Go Red with Thread annual stitch in to raise money for The American Heart Association.

Join us on February 4th from 10-3 for a day of stitching to support the American Heart Association! A donation of $25 is suggested to participate and ensure you have a seat at one of our tables.  Registration is required.  Shoot me an email to register while we are closed during the holiday week if you’d like to participate.

We will also be holding classes for the three pieces that are exclusive to shops participating in the fundraiser. Shoot me an email or call the shop next week to sign up or order a kit.

Before you pack away all your holiday treasures, bring some to the shop and Mary Susan will give you some ideas of how to refresh your ornaments.  She’ll teach you how to make new bows to freshen them up.  Perhaps add some embellishments to spruce them up? Or maybe have them refinished by our fabulous finishers?

Lumber Exchange

January 7th 12:30-2:30

How is it that we end up with 10 sets of 9 inch bars in our stash but don’t have 10 inch?  It’s a mystery to me.  Bring in your excess stretcher bars, with the length written on the bar, and exchange them for another size.  You can swap them out!

Be the first to take a class offered to people in the trade a week after the TNNA Winter trade show.  What makes this class different is that the stitch guide for this darling piece by Melissa Prince is written with three levels of difficulty for you to pick and choose.  Don’t fret about the black background.  It’s black thread on white canvas so it’s easy to see. Or, you can choose a different color.  This class is packed with techniques for a stitcher of any level, from late beginner to advanced.

Year in Review

It has been another amazing year at The Enriched Stitch.

Our customers have grown so much in their stitching.  So many beautiful things have come into the store.  I’m so proud of all of you!

I have to thank my girls for being there for me throughout the year.  Holding me up and supporting me, both personally and professionally.  I couldn’t do what I do without all of you!

I’ve written over 50 stitch guides this year.  Started countless pieces. But here’s what I finished in 2016.

Damn!!! I stitched a ton this year!  Almost every piece I’ve shown you has a stitch guide.  I’ve been a busy girl. And it’s gonna get busier next year!

We have a jam packed year planned with events and classes at the shop.  It’s going to be our best year yet!

And the Oscar Goes To. . .

If  you don’t know how much I love the movie coasters from Melissa Prince by now, you should read earlier blog posts.   A lot of people have been asking me if there is a kit for My Fair Lady.   If you’re one of those people, you’re in luck!  I just wrote up the guide today.

We don’t have any in stock right now but we have more on order.

The other big news in the entertainment world, and no, I’m not talking about the unfortunate losses the celebrity community has suffered over the last few days, is that our Girls Night Out Coaster club has wrapped up and the canvases are now available individually.

Sex and the City

Sixteen Candles

Pretty Woman

Romeo & Juliet

Fifty Shades of GreyDirty Dancing

Risky Business

Casablanca

All the canvases have stitch guides and we can definitely pull the kits together for you.  All of the canvases are currently in stock.

Staycation!!!!!!

Unfortunately I don’t have a vacation planned for quite some time in 2017.  Probably not until the summer when we usually go to Block Island.  But I have to say,  I am thoroughly enjoying my staycation between Christmas and New Year’s.  So this got me thinking . . .let’s plan a staycation at the store!

It’s a big year for us at The Enriched Stitch.  We’ll be celebrating our five year anniversary on March 17th!  I can’t believe how time flies!

Join us for our first Enriched Stitch Staycation on March 18th-19th.  Maybe I should call it a “Stitchcation.” Or an “Enrichation?” Who care what we call it?  It’s gonna be a blast!

Here’s how it works.  We’re offering 5 classes for 5 years.  Choose from one of the three project options below to work on for two days.

Do you like Winter getaways?  Then this piece by Amanda Lawford is for you.

Looking for more of a Summer vacation?  Perhaps this design by J & J Graphics will entice you.

(If the door is bugging you . . .don’t worry.  I’ve got a solution.)

World traveler?  Then pick two Kirk & Bradley travel rounds to work on one each day.

We’ve stitched a bunch of them.  But if there’s one we haven’t done that you’d like to stitch, we can definitely help you with stitches and threads.

In your registration fee, which includes lunch both days and catered cocktail party and dinner on Saturday night, you’ll also get 2 FREE classes!  On Saturday there will be a class on working with silk ribbons.  And on Sunday there will be a beading class.

Registration is $150, which includes everything mentioned above and two days of instruction on whichever staycation destination you choose.  Canvas, thread kit and stitch guide are additional.  I don’t have the pricing for the threads yet since the cardinals and the cottage are both works in progress.

Register by January 15th and receive 10% off your ENTIRE kit!  If you can’t make the event, kits are always available.  The same 10% early bird discount will be honored for our long distance customers.  Obviously no class fee will be charged for kits.

We’re closed this week but you can email me to sign up!
