New Club! Melissa Shirley Thanksgiving

This club is adorable!  Aggie fell in love with this set.  So of course I talked her into doing it as a club.

The club starts in April.  Sign up by February 1st to be included in the first shipment.

Stitch guides by Aggie Aspinwall are included.

Thread kits are available and are additional.  Aggie will definitely be reusing the threads.  She has started with the Indian man and woman and almost all of the threads are the same.  She’s so thoughtful.

There are additional pieces in this series.  We are happy to write stitch guides for those pieces, but Aggie will only be stitching the ones you see here.

Call the shop or email to sign up.

You can also sign up online.

Shop Stitching 2013

I couldn’t do what I do without the help and support of all the women who work at the shop.  I am so lucky to be part of the creativity that  flows in the shop.

Here’s a few pieces of each of their stitching from this year.  They have churned out a ton more, but these are the pictures that I have.

A Year in Review

Here’s what I’ve been up to this year.  Writing this blog made me realize how much I stitch.  Oh my!  This doesn’t even include all the projects that were started and not completed this year.  I might have a problem.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas from all of us at The Enriched Stitch!

It has been a busy and exciting year for us.  Thank you to all of our customers for coming along for the ride.

trip-stocking

This is the first stocking I did for my son six years ago.  I had originally ordered a Liz stocking with Santa flying around a lighthouse.  As beautiful as the piece is. I’m happy it never came in.  There were at least 20 shades of blue.  Yuck!  And I would have tent stitched at that time.

My stocking came next.

Growing up in Connecticut, we used to go to New York City every Christmas to see the tree.  Nothing is more magical than standing beneath that beautiful tree.

sue-stocking-1

The canvas was painted with an orange tree.  As was the Chrysler building.  I started stitching the stocking in early December, right before the tree lighting.  I had decided I didn’t want a big orange tree in my stocking.  I was going to make it green.  I watched the tree lighting that night and sure enough, the tree was green.   I couldn’t understand why the designer would have plopped a big orange tree in the middle of the canvas.  That year, the lights had been switched to LED lights, which have a blue tinge to them.  My mother pulled out old pictures of us kids standing in front of the tree and sure enough, that tree was orange.

It’s all about the lights.

My husband was getting a little impatient for his stocking.  But, in the end, he said “I may have had to wait the longest, but mine is the best one.”

We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year.

Susan Portra is Coming!!!!

We are just bursting with excitement over our next visiting teacher!

The AMAZING Susan Portra will be teaching at the shop April 25-30.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Susan, she has been teaching for over 30 years, previously owned  a shop in California, creates charted designs and spends over 300 days a year on the road teaching.  She is also a favorite teacher of Vicki De Angelis.

Susan has not taught in the Northeast in over 20 years.  Don’t miss this RARE opportunity!

pumpkin girl

Her students win blue ribbon awards at the ANG seminar

She will be teaching two sessions of her mind blowing workshop “Bring Your Canvas to Life”

Susan’s “Bring Your Canvas to Life” class is about taking a single dimension canvas, recognizing the focal point and working towards enhancing the “art level” of needlepoint,  determining the focal, middle ground and background with texture, depth, movement and light play.  These are created by using specific threads, stitches and multiple techniques to elevate your needlecraft into needle art.  Susan also helps her students with finishing tips and suggestions to enhance their projects to be proudly displayed in their homes.

Purchase a new canvas from the shop to watch Susan work her magic on.  You will never view a canvas the same way again.
