This is a new design from Ewe & Ewe by Mary Beth Baxter. I found this artist with the help of Maggie Thompson, of Maggie Co. This was my other choice for the retreat. I was so excited that they went ahead and produced the piece anyway.
This will be available as a kit in October and as a class November 2nd and 16th 10-12:30
The complete kit is $248 and includes the canvas, stitch guide and thread kit. There is a $40 class fee/class. You can pre order the kit online or register for the class.

The basket is a woven technique, much like a woven potholder you made as a kid. It just has a more complex pattern. So fast and easy!
The holly leaves and berries were so much fun! A little off canvas weaving, anyone? And the beaded berries. . . well that’s a secret you’ll learn in class.
I attached an actual ribbon to the canvas. I tried so many different things, but nothing seemed to work out, or look halfway decent. In fact, it looked terrible.
I wanted the cookies to look like they had that green and red sugar that my mother sprinkles on her Christmas cookies.
There will be an exclusive magnet to accompany this canvas. This is the prototype rendering of what will be a real magnet.

Speaking of finishing, here are the deadlines in order to receive your precious heirlooms in time for the holidays.
Thanksgiving: August 31st
Christmas and Hanukkah:
September 7th: Ornaments, Stand-Ups, Eye Glass Cases, Scissor Cases, Handbags, Cuffs
October 5th: Stocking and Pillows
October 20th: Belts, Bricks, Expedited Ornaments (incur an extra charge)
If you missed the deadlines, don’t hesitate to ask if the finishing can be done. We will check with the finishers to see if they are able to accommodate a late submission.
Valentines Day: September 7th
The month of September is shaping up to be very exciting at the shop. The Rebecca Wood trunk show will be in house with all trunk show canvases 15% off. Julia Snyder will be teaching two embellishment classes and the modern tree class, designed by Raymond Crawford.
I didn’t think we could have more fun than that in one month, but if you can, might as well!
The Needle Deeva, Judee Norgard, will be in the shop on Saturday September 14th for a Day With the Deeva. We had so much fun with her last year during her visit. Be sure to stop and meet her. We’ll even have a mini trunk show with the canvases discounted.
When I didn’t think it could get any better, I received a phone call from Derek of DC Designs. For those of you who don’t know him, he’s Amanda Lawford’s son and has a canvas line of his own. He’s the guy behind this famous canvas.

Derek and Amanda will be in the shop on Tuesday September 24th with the ENTIRE line from Amanda Lawford, DC Designs, Needlepoint Broad and HP Designs. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate my birthday than canvas shopping!

You’ve probably been wondering why I haven’t blogged in the last week or so. I was enjoying some much needed R & R with my family in Block Island. So relaxing! Just what I needed. Lots of sleep and lots of stitching.
So, tada! I finished! Summer at the Shore is complete for the retreat.
Just have to put together the stitch guide and I’m ready to go. (If only).
Every hydrangea in the garden is a different technique. Some are a variation on a theme so you won’t lose your mind. Or you can pick your favorites and just use those techniques. Remember, this is my interpretation and GUIDE.
I love the whale. Now I have to figure out what I did!
Yes, that is basketweave you see. I avoid it at all costs. But sometimes it’s just what a canvas calls for.
