Why Miss Scarlet…

Our very own expert stitcher extraordinaire, Becki,  stitched this spectacular Gone With the Wind canvas from Labors of Love.  It is truly a treasure! If you are local, be sure to stop by the shop to see this piece in person.  It is stunning!  Becki works in the shop on Tuesdays and is available for private lessons.

Her details are amazing!

Swirly Snowmen Class #1

Yesterday we had the first of three classes on the Ewe & Eye canvas “Warm Greetings” or as I call them, the “Swirly Snowmen.”  My little guy called them the “Dancing Snowmen.”  Gotta love 4 year olds!

We also had our first class with a long distance student via Skype. It worked out so well. Cammie felt like she was a part of the class, almost as if she were here. All she had to do was open her computer (or you can use an iPad or iPhone) and I gave her a buzz on Skype.  So easy! Email info@enrichedstitch.com for more information on how you can join our classes.

Here’s my almost finished piece.  I’ve got to put the finishing touches on and finish the last hat and scarf. I promise it will be done by the last class on February 9th.

My goal with teaching this piece was to convey a sense of overhead perspective and depth.  But, the hardest part was how to make needlepoint work on a curve. As we all know, needlepoint likes straight, not round. What a challenge!

Close up of the scarf and hat.  This is a raised buttonhole stitch done on a curve using Planet Earth Opal

Sorry for the shadows in the pictures.  I’ll get better ones posted soon.  I was just so anxious to get this up.  This is the outer body of the snowman and a little bit of the background.

Ahh. . . the corkscrew stitch. Thank you Julia Snyder!  It’s the perfect stitch for a snowman’s carrot nose.

I’ll post pics of the next class in 2 weeks.  Stay tuned!

Call the shop or email me if you are interested in the stitch guide and thread pack.

A Challenge

So the other night I had the brilliant idea to present a stitching challenge to Aggie.  What was I thinking?  I had just received the Victorian Caroler backdrop by Kathy Schenkel that has been exclusive to Wellesly Needlepoint.  Aggie bought it last year but hadn’t stitched it. I thought it would be fun to see how differently we stitch it.  But then I had to take it a step farther and make it into a race.

For those of you who don’t know Aggie, she is a dear friend of mine who I’ve been stitching with for years.  She works at the shop on Saturdays and is an immensely talented stitcher.  (Wait till you see her peacock piece from Maggie. It’s an upcoming class).

I will be posting pics of my progress.  I’m sure some of you are thinking that Aggie will see what I’m doing.  Not to worry, Aggie doesn’t read the blogs.

Enough blogging.  Gotta get stitching.  Aggie is going to get this done by February 1st since it is her Bash Your Stash piece.  Only problem is, I feel like stitching the Hawaiian Nativity backdrop.  Hmm . . . a world tour.

Back in Business

I’ve certainly enjoyed my time off over the last week.  Managed to get away to Vermont for a few days with my family.  Got a lot of stitching done. Closing in on the Swirly Snowmen. Just have to add the finishing touches, then they’ll be ready for the big reveal.  I’ll have that project wrapped up just in time for the first class on January 12th.

But, I am anxious to get the shop back open tomorrow.  So many new things trickled into the shop over our hiatus.  We received snap trays and frame weights and a number of new books.

Needlepointing in Your Nest, Merry Needlepoint, Merry Easter: Carolyn Hedge Baird

Shapes 1, 2 and 3

Stitches for the Millenium: Brenda Hart

I anxiously awaiting my Christmas banner by Rebecca Wood.  I can’t wait to get stitching on this piece.  This class is going to be such a blast!

I’m also hoping that Kathy Schenkel has sent me a present.  The exclusive on the Victorian Caroler backdrop is over as of today. Hooray!  I think this canvas may deserve a place in the class line up this year!

One Hit Wonder Class: Raymond Crawford Star

Nancy will be teaching this Raymond Crawford design on January 5th.

This class is also available via Skype.  So, before you think that you can’t take the class because you don’t live around here, think again. All you have to do is turn your computer on and give us a call on Skype. It’s just that easy. You see and hear everything that is going on in the shop.  In turn, we can take a look at your stitching to help you out.

The finishing was done by The Needlework Center in Hynannis, Mass

All the bows are a different technique

I love the beaded bow! How on Earth did she do that?

Each package is more beautiful than the next

I wish my packages looked this good!

This is also available as a grab ‘n go kit.  We can just pop it in the mail.

We are closed through the holidays.  But I’m always checking email!

Happy New Year!

Thanksgiving Club: Pilgrim #1

I just couldn’t wait to start this club. Here’s my interpretation of Vicki’s stitch guide.  A few fiber substitutions, only because I don’t carry everything on her list.  The turkey is is the only thing I changed.  I just can’t resist a chance to play with River Silks.

We are so excited that the Needle Deeva herself chose us to be one of the few stores throughout the country to exclusively distribute this club. The club starts February 1st. So, be sure to sign up soon.  There are 12 pieces in total.  I can’t wait to see them gracing the buffet in my dining room next Thanksgiving.

The price of each “peep” is $54 and the backdrop is $120. Thread kits are an additional cost, but not required to purchase.  The stitch guides are done by the amazing Vicki De Angelis.  You will receive a FREE Chic-a bag double zip portfolio project bag to store the contents of the club in just for signing up.  If you pay for the club in full at the time of signing up, you will receive a “peep” for FREE!

The shop is currently closed through January 1st. So, shoot me an email if you are interested or have any other questions.  info@enrichedstitch.com
