To Market To Market . . .We Didn’t Go

This is the first year since I opened almost seven years ago that I did not attend the Winter TNNA show.  It was weird not being there.  But, with the new show at the end of March in Orlando, I just didn’t see the point in attending this show.  I won’t get into the details of these shows, but I’m pretty sure that this will be the last winter show.

Honestly, the March timing is SO much better for most shops and designers.  Now that I exhibit at these shows, I would have had to give up my Christmas to get ready for this show or been in such a time crunch after the holidays.  Not fun.  I like the spacing between the Dallas show in September and the new show in March.   I would have had to have new designs ready to go right after Dallas had I attended this show.  I know you all think I’m Wonder Woman, but event that’s too much for me!

I haven’t seen too many new designs posted from this show.  But, I did pop on Melissa Prince’s website and noticed she had her new designs up!  And you know how much I love her designs!

I love the new puffins in the abstract animal series.  Gonna have to stitch the little one to add to my collection!

There are two new wreaths.

This fun one she calls “Ballroom Dancing”

And there’s new movie coasters . . .of course.

A Star is Born (Can’t wait to see that movie)

Vice

On the Basis of Sex

Mary Queen of Scots

Devil Wears Prada

Crazy Rich Asians

Charlotte’s Web (gotta have this!)

Bridget Jones’s Diary

Bohemian Rhapsody

As I see more designs posted from this show I’ll be sure to share them with you.

I Started it You Finish It Sale

It’s January. And you know what that means…cleaning out the house. My office was long overdue for a clean out. It was a pretty scary place. I’m not done organizing yet, but I’ll show you before and after pics when it’s standing tall.

I know you all think you have an enormous stash, but you have no idea what kind of stash accumulates when you own a needlepoint store. I won’t say that I’m a hoarder, but others might. Lol!

Now you can have an inside view as to what a small part of my stash looks like.  This should be fun!

So here’s how this works, today through Saturday February 9th the following canvases are on sale. Some have been stitched more than others, but most have a thread or two stitched in…practically a brand new canvas.

Give us a call and tell us the description of the canvas and we’ll send it your way, including the stretcher bars if the canvas is on bars. The prices are on the canvases. If you have trouble seeing the price, just enlarge the pic.  Sorry some of the pics are sideways.  Technology is not my friend today. LOL!

The Year in Review

It’s been the busiest year to date at The Enriched Stitch and Vallerie Needlepoint Gallery.  I can’t wait for you to see what’s planned for next year!  I’ve got tons of classes planned, about 50 new designs for the Spring Needlepoint Show so far, and who knows what I’ll come up with for Destination Dallas.

I have to thank my wonderful staff for all their support and hard work throughout the year. I couldn’t do what I do without all of you.

So, here’s the annual “Year in Review” blog of all the pieces that I stitched in 2018.  I hope you’ve got some time because this is a long list!

Damn!  That’s a lot of stitching!  There’s a few I can’t show you yet and I’m sure there’s a few missing but it’s getting late and I need to get ready for our New Year’s Eve festivities tonight.

Thank you, dear readers, for following me throughout the year.  I hope you and yours have a wonderful 2019.

There’s Hope

December 21st is the shortest day of the year, which most people find really depressing.  But  . . .since we are a boating family and look forward to summer more than anything, we see it quite differently.  December 21st may be the shortest day of the year, but that only means the days will get longer from there. . .bringing us closer to summer.

And . . .honestly . . .I need a break from all the Christmas that is around.  Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas.  But it seems to be more work year after year.  Sometimes I wish I could take off and spend Christmas in the Caribbean.  Wouldn’t that be nice?

For all of you who love summer, lets take a trip there through needlepoint.

Summer at the Shore makes me think of Block Island where we go most summers.

Nothing says summer more than fun cocktails.

New England in the summer is the best.  Lobster rolls . . .yum!

Mary Susan’s ice cream cones are the essence of summer.

This berry basket by Melissa Shirley makes me so happy.  And what a fun piece it was to stitch!

I could go on and on, but we all have to get back to our holiday preparations (aka chores).  Hopefully I took your mind off of things for a few minutes!

Merry Stitch Along

Our Mary Susan has done it again!  Tempting all of you out there in a new stitch along.

Here’s how it works.  We’ll send you the canvas, first thread kit and first installment of the guide in March.  Then you’ll receive a thread kit and guide for the next two months.  So, it’s kinda like a club but only one canvas.  The design is from Raymond Crawford and measures 6 x 10 1/2 on 18 mesh.  A delightful size!

There’s beading, buttonhole and tons of pretty stitches!

You must sign up by January 30th to be included in the first shipment.  You can sign up online or by calling the shop. 203-210-5107

Take a look at the finishing!  She picked all of that out herself and we sent it to our fabulous finishers.  When she brings that back to the shop after the holidays it might just go missing and end up in my house!

Ornament Exchange

Our love our ornament exchange.  I look forward to it all year.  There was a lot of grumbling about it from some people, but once they received their ornament all was right with the world.

I stitched this little cutie from Heidi for Kim.  It just looked wacky and fun, which is exactly what Kim is like.

Linda stitched this little snowman for Aggie.  Can’t you tell from her signature black and white bow?

Kim stitched this little penguin for Lynn, the newest member of The Enriched Stitch family.

Can you guess who the next one was for?  ME!  You know me and my penguins.  Mary Susan pulled this out of my pile of canvases I had set aside for myself during the CBK trunk show.  Sneaky!

Aggie stitched this adorable bird from Funda Sculley for Mary Susan.  Not an easy task sneaking this one by  for finishing when Mary Susan runs the finishing department.  I put my name on the finishing form so she thought it was mine.  Pretty sure she didn’t believe me. LOL!

Andrea is our beach girl, so this ornament was perfect for her.

I don’t know how Andrea was able to give this beautiful flower urn away to Linda.  Maybe she’ll make me one too.  I have it in my stash already!

If you have a stitching group, I totally recommend you doing this.  What wonderful gifts that we can treasure year after year!

Enriched Stitch Holiday Party

We had the BEST time last night! I took the girls out to dinner for our annual holiday party where we do our Secret Santa ornament exchange. Despite the moaning and groaning (and stressing out for some of the girls), it is so much fun!

As the emails flew around about the plans for the night, a gift wrapping challenge secretly happened. Linda makes us rise to the challenge.

They were so pretty we didn’t want to open them. Oh who am I kidding…we were dying to find out who stitched for us!

The gift that won best presentation ( artfully wrapped by Linda of course) apparently was for me from all the girls. What a special surprise! Whatever shall I buy with my MacKenzie Child’s gift card? That was so nice of them and so unexpected. I don’t know why I was surprised because these women go above and beyond day after day for me. I am so lucky to have them in my life…not just professionally but as my dear friends.

Now you can put a face with the names. I’m on the left(I’m sure dear readers you know me by now), Lynn is next to me and Mary Susan is next to her. On the other side of the table is Aggie(in the front), Kim is next to her and Linda, the hostess with the mostest is next to Kim.

You know I can’t say enough about these women. Our dear Andrea and Becki weren’t able to make it last night. We missed them terribly.

The card they gave me sums it up perfectly.

I couldn’t agree more! Love you all!!!!

But the night didn’t end there. I told them we were doing something after dinner that was a surprise. A few of them were a little worried about what I had planned. You never know what I’m going to cook up!

So, I took everyone to Muse Paint Bar for a night of painting. I’ve always wanted to do that so I figured here was my chance.

It was a blast! If you’ve never done something like that you should.

It was a wonderful night full of friendship and lots of laughs. I can’t thank them all enough for all that they do for me … and for putting up with me at times lol!
