So Much to Tell You

Well . . .I’m back from a whirlwind weekend in Dallas.  It took a little while to recover, but I’m back with so many exciting things to tell you.

Both of my classes were great!  The ruffle ribbon heart and the Pinwheel Floral.  Both classes are available as kits now.

We brought home two full suitcases of canvases, around 400 new canvases. Oh my!  I will work on getting pictures posted over the next week.

I lined up 8 new clubs and exclusives while I was there.  I’ll be rolling them out over the next few months.  Some of them we don’t have canvases for yet, but we will get stitching as fast as we can.

It was such a fun weekend getting together with everyone in the industry.  And what a close knit group of people it is.  Everywhere you go in the hotel you run into someone you know.

I will say, the people who plan and coordinate this show do a fabulous job.  Many thanks to Karen (Strictly Christmas), Raymond Crawford, and Debbie (Painted Pony).  They make it so much fun and festive.  The theme this year was “Stitch, Rattle and Roll,” so of course people were dressed in poodle skirts.

They even brought back the singer from last year.  This guy is a hoot!

He got people dancing and singing karaoke with him during the ice cream party they threw on Saturday evening.

Enough about this silly guy. . .

I’ll post throughout the week with new clubs and online classes, as well as pictures of our canvas boards.

I love keeping you in suspense lol!

To Market To Market . . .

Aggie and I are off to Dallas this morning for a weekend of fun, teaching, and of course, shopping for new canvases for the store.  What’s better than buying tons of new canvases?  I can’t think of anything.

The designers have been sharing some of their new designs on Facebook or via email.  Here’s what I’ve seen so far, and I haven’t even gotten to Dallas yet.  It’s gonna be a great show! Let me know if there’s something you have to have or if you would like more information on any of the pieces.amanda-red-white-blue

Ho Ho Ho – A New Online Class

I’m so excited to announce another online class from The Enriched Stitch.

ho ho ho

I have loved this canvas since I first saw it.  So join me in a fun stitching adventure.

Here’s how it works.  There will be three installments of this class, starting in December 2015. Each installment is $25 plus the threads.  The second installment will be in January 2016 and the third in February.

We currently have the Alice Peterson trunk show, so you will receive 15% off the canvas for special orders.  Sorry I didn’t get to this blog sooner before the one that arrived in the trunk show made it’s way to a happy home.

The canvas is $148 regular price, so it would be $125.80 with the trunk show discount.  This promotion is only offered through September 30th, 2015.

In each installment, you will receive the stitch guide and thread kit.  I’m not quite sure what the threads cost yet, because I am still working on the piece.   You will also get a choice of the background color that is used.  I did my background in candy cane pink. I know, crazy?  Aggie’s idea.  But it came out really cute.  If that’s not for you, not to worry, you can also choose white or navy.

Don’t look too closely.  It’s a work in progress.  And if you noticed my pin stitches showing, I’ve got a plan to hide them.

I will have instructional videos on this piece posted on a password protected site that only those in the class can view.

Already have the canvas?  Not a problem!  You can still join the class.

Give us a call to sign up!

Simple things

I know you’re not going to believe this…but I do in fact just basketweave sometimes. Sometimes I just wanna fill up holes.

So, I stitched this little canvas from Silver Needle for my husband, Ray, for Christmas this year. They have canvases like this for so many different locations. I’m sure you can find one for yourself.

Check out the Silver Needle online catalog.

Gridlock!

And no. . .I’m not talking about the Pope’s imminent arrival in New York this week.  We had our own dignitary in town this past weekend.  The “Ambassador of Needlepoint,” Carolyn Baird, came to teach at the shop.  And what fun it was!

Mary Susan, who you should all know by now runs the finishing department at the store, has always called Carolyn the “Ambassador of Needlepoint.”  And rightly so!  She does more to promote our wonderful art form than anyone else I can think of.  She is a prolific stitcher and stitch guide writer, as well as a fabulous teacher.

We had three full days of classes. I started a new stocking for myself, a really cool peacock one from Alice Peterson.  By the way, that trunk show is still in the shop.  My son, Trip, who has now decided to be called Ray (which is his real name), wants a new stocking.  So he picked one out, as well.

Carolyn had fabulous ideas for the canvases.  Check out this basket she had Aggie make.

And Catherine worked on this adorable Easter piece.  carolyn-3

If you missed this canvas embellishment class, Julia Snyder will be coming to town on November 6th and 7th.  Don’t hesitate to sign up.  Class is filling up quickly!

Canvas embellishment classes are my favorite type of class because everyone can work on the canvas of their choice and the stitches are tailored to each canvas and stitcher.

Hope you can join in the fun!

I always say…

Better to be busy than not. Careful what I wish for!

I’ve been furiously writing stitch guides  for my two classes that I will be teaching at Destination Dallas at the end of September. And my pillow just came back from the finisher. One less thing to worry about!

pinwheel-pillow-finished
The Pinwheel canvas is offered in three color ways and I am writing stitch guides for all of them. The stitch guides are written for both 13 and 18 mesh canvas.  So the guide works for whatever size and shape canvas you choose.

You can preorder the kits through The Enriched Stitch or through your local needlepoint store.

Now to put the kits together. My favorite thing. NOT!

Two Years in the Making

I’m going to be honest . . . and a bit conceited right now.  I think this is one the best pieces I’ve ever stitched.  And the framing is to die for!

four-seasons-framed

These four canvases by Machelle Sommerville, were the Four Seasons club that The Enriched Stitch offered last year.  I finished stitching these over a year ago, but I just never got around to fixing one leaf to take it to my framer.  Who, by the way, is AMAZING!  Thank you Pat at River Road Gallery!

I knew I wanted all four pieces framed together.  And Pat suggested that we make it look like a window.  Each canvas is surrounded by filets and the mat looks like leather.  Pictures never do needlepoint justice.  If you’re local be sure to stop by to see it.  This piece was always meant to live in my home, so it won’t be here forever.  But, it might make guest appearances from time to time.

Here’s closeups of each canvas.

These canvases measure 8  x 8 on 13 mesh and are a quick stitch.  Each canvas and kit is available individually.  And there are stitch guides for all of them, as well.  Call the shop if you’d like us to send one or all your way.

The best present from the UPS guy

ups

Don’t you agree?  I get so excited when the UPS truck pulls up outside the store.  Hector brings us the best presents. (He’s not bad on the eyes either lol)

My finishing has been pouring back in the last few weeks.  Nothing better than getting a box of finishing!

Julia Snyder designed this canvas for me.  And in my colors!

lmfao

I stitched this little gem on vacation in April.  What a fun stitch!purse-1

And then there’s the purse.  I saw this purse as a model at the Elizabeth Turner booth at the January market and knew I just had to have it.purse-2

It’s the first needlepoint purse I’d seen that I would actually carry.  What I had seen before was kinda old fashioned for me.  I am only 36 after all!

The lining could be almost as good as the rest of the bag.  Gotta love the hot pink!
