This weekend, August 2nd and 3rd, The Enriched Stitch will be hosting the first Needlepoint Nation East Stitch In. People from the all around the tri-state area and as far away as Virginia will be traveling to the shop to meet fellow stitchers from the Facebook group Needlepoint Nation. Originally, this was an invite only group, but now it is open to the public.  People post pictures of their finished work, ask for advice, and enable each other with their stitching addictions.

A few months ago, a group in Texas met up at The Needleworks.  Pictures flooded NP Nation and I just couldn’t resist hosting an East Coast get together.  It just looked like so much fun!

We still have a few open chairs for Friday and Saturday. We will be stitching upstairs in our classroom from 10-4.  Registration is required.  $25 per day to join us.  I will provide lunch, coffee and snacks.  We are also offering “enrichment session” where you can work privately with myself or one of the teachers in the shop. These sessions are by appointment and cost $50/hour.

Even if you are not part of this Facebook group, you are still welcome to join us, as long as we have space.  Call the shop this week or sign up online.

We has such a blast with Vicky De Angelis last weekend.  Boy am I exhausted!  It’s a hard job having this much fun but someone has to do it.

Vicky is the most patient teacher and is so concerned that everyone in class understands.

Vicky and I spent some time down by the water on my in-laws’ boat enjoying freshly dug steamers that my husband and son gathered earlier that afternoon.

Everyone has been busy beading to their hearts content.  Aggie finished all the beading on Trick or Treat. She’s too fresh!

We can’t wait for Vicky to come back next year.  We’re already brainstorming on what she will teach next.

Aggie will be teaching this darling little piece on Wednesday July 31st from 6-8. It’s a great little summer project, measuring only 4 inches. How adorable is the finishing?  This is a great piece for late beginners looking to learn  a few new stitches.

Modern Tree by Raymond Crawford

Julia stitched and wrote a fabulous stitch guide for this adorable piece.  It measures 5 x 8.  Talk about circle techniques . . .oh my!   I just picked up my snowmen from the framer.  I am such a proud mama right now! I was stopped three times on the way back to the car.  I have never been happier with any piece of finishing in my life!

They have been encased in ice for all eternity.

They framed the piece with a red mat and ribbons laid on top.  Then they built a plexi glass tray on top. And yes, it’s water tight.  Not that any one would ever dare put a glass on it. God help them!

I think I’ll do another tray with a beach theme next.

Our Aggie has been up to no good again.  She fell in love with this darling piece by Ewe & Eye.  She has written the stitch guide and is ready to roll for a class this fall.

There’s always an Aggie twist.  Not a clear picture, but her ribbon technique on these leaves is beautiful.

The amazingly talented and oh so humble Vicky De Angelis will be coming to teach at The Enriched Stitch this weekend,  July 20th and 21st.

To quote Vicky, I just “LOVE LOVE LOVE” this lady.  I first met her through Judee, the Needle Deeva at the Baltimore market last September.  The Deeva has been oh so kind to me and taken me under her wing.  And Vicky has been there right behind her.

We had dinner three nights in a row at the Long Beach show in February.  At one point I was pretty sure that Vicky thought I was stalking her.

She stitched the Little Red Bike by Alice Peterson for The Enriched Stitch.
