Stitch Guide Saturday

Stop by the shop tomorrow and we’ll write a stitch guide that is purchased on Stitch Guide Saturday.  This will happen the first Saturday of every month.  In July it will be on the 11th since the first Saturday is the Fourth of July.  And as much as I love my store, I plan on being closed that day and enjoying the day with my family on our boat.

So here’s how it works. In the store, time permitting, we will write a stitch guide right then and there.  However, if we are too busy, leave the canvas with us and we’ll take care of everything over the weekend and you can pop in the next week to pick everything up.

And…. if you purchase the threads that we suggest, you’ll receive 10% off the canvas purchase.  This only applies to full price canvases and whatever trunk show we have at the time.  This offer will not combined with trunk show discount of 20%.

You may order canvases online and receive stitch guides, as well.  However, bear with us while we update the inventory online.  Some canvases may say they are in stock but are not.  It’s hard when the online store isn’t linked to the computer in the store.  But I’m working to resolve that situation.  I just dread the conversion from one system to another.

Check with us via email or calling the shop to make sure a canvas is in stock before you order online.  The stitch guides will only be written for in stock canvases.

We’ve got so many great ideas for these canvases.  And we don’t always have the time throughout the day to go through a canvas in detail when you purchase it.  So, I thought this might help you guys out and give you a little more instruction.

You can always stop by studio time or schedule a private lesson.  Or, if you don’t live near the shop, you can schedule a lesson with me via Skype or Facetime.

Happy Weekend!  Gotta get stitching.  Lot’s of homework to do.  Wait till you see what I’m working on right now.  It’s top secret!

Spring Cleaning Sale!

Throughout the month of June we’re having a sale!  All featured in stock canvases are 20% off.

Here’s how it works.  Each week I’ll post new pictures of our canvas boards.  We’ll start this week with all Christmas canvases.  This gives you more time to get these canvases stitched for the Christmas deadline on August 15th.

These will remain on sale throughout the month as new themed categories are posted each Monday.

Call or email the shop for prices. 203-210-5107  enrichedstitch@gmail.com

New Elizabeth Turner Collection Canvases and Magnets

I saw these parrots and I flipped over them!  Once I get some of my “homework” as I call it done (you know, all those pieces I have to stitch), I am definitely doing one of these birds.

And who doesn’t love magnets?  I don’t know about you, but I can’t have enough.  And the funny thing is . . .so many of mine are missing.  I bet one day I’ll find a stash that my son hid somewhere.

I have all of these magnets on order.  So give me a shout if there’s one (or more) that you just can’t live without.

New Ewe & Eye and Maggie Co. Designs

You know I’m a huge fan of Ewe & Eye.  My last two retreat pieces were created for me by Gail and Maggie, the owners of Ewe & Eye and Maggie Co.

Here’s a few new designs I grabbed off of Facebook.  What would we do without the glorious invention of Facebook?

New Summer Designs

I will not be attending the Columbus market this weekend.  As much fun as market is (and it’s a ton of fun), I’m just too busy this time of year to make it there.  But, I’ll post new designs as soon as I see them.

Here’s a few new ones from Melissa Shirley.  I’m sure more will be on her website, but I just happened to stumble upon this a few minutes ago looking something up.

Looks like I’ll have two more bunnies to stitch.  These are adorable!

Let me know if I can preorder anything for you!

I’m Seeing Green

The only thing I’m green with envy about is that I want this dress in real life.  I LOVE these dresses from Elizabeth Turner Collection!  This is the second dress that I’ve stitched.  I started a third one a few days ago.  The third one is turning out to be my favorite.

green-dress-1

This one was not as easy to figure out as the pink dress.

green-dress-2

I ripped out 90% of the skirt.  I first used Soie d’Alger for the skirt.  It was so flat and dead.  But, I had to get enough in before I could really see it.  Thank God Bargello is easy to rip out. But those damn pin stitches!  If you think that a pin stitch isn’t secure, I beg to differ.  Those little suckers stick in tight!  Even with a single strand of thread.

green-dress-3

Looks like I beaded the bodice and the belt.  Guess again!  If you know me at all, I only bead under penalty of death!

The stitch guide is now available, as well as the kit  I’ve got canvases on order.  So give me a shout if you’re interested.

New Designs! Ski the East

No matter how hard I try, I never stitch in season.  I know summer just started, but how cute are these new designs?  These are all ski mountains in the Northeast.  I don’t know if the line is going to expand, but I’m sure our artist would do custom designs for just about any mountain.

The rounds are 4.25 inches on 18 mesh.  $65

okemo

Okemo is a very special place for my family.  I have been going there since I was five years old.  Growing up, my sister was on the ski team there and we went almost every weekend  from Christmas through March.  I still get up there from time to time.  That’s where I went when I brought 21 pieces of needlepoint for vacation!

This design also comes in a 9 x 9 square on 13 mesh.  $125

It’s Here! Finally!

At long last my canvas for our retreat arrived today!  I’ve been dying for this piece to come in.

beach-house-kit

I will be teaching this design by Melissa Shirley at our retreat at The Water’s Edge on October 23-25.  There is more information about our retreat on the website.

waters edge 1

waters edge 4

See why we keep going back to this resort year after year?  It is stunning!  And they have an incredible spa.  If you can’t join us, kits will be available.  We are taking orders now.  You can call the store or order online.

This is a deposit of $100 ONLY!  Canvas $270.  Balance of $170 due at time of shipment.

Kits will ship after the retreat starting October 27th. You must order by August 1st to be included in the first shipment.

The stitch guide will be written by me, Suzie Vallerie.  I won’t know the price of the guide or thread kit until I have finished stitching the piece.   Please add a note to your order if you would like to add the stitch guide and thread kit and we will contact you for the balance of the kit.

This is only about half of the threads that I pulled today.  When I start working on a piece, I pull just about everything in the store that I could use on the canvas.  Gotta have lots to play with!  The canvas is 16 x 11.5 on 18 mesh.

Give me a call at the shop or drop me an email with any questions regarding the retreat or the kit.

Ready for Summer!

Nothing is better than getting finishing back.  How cute are these flip flops?

flip-flops-1

These are not a specially designed canvas.  It is just a plain old belt canvas.

flip-flops-2

I can’t wait to wear them this summer!  Or, you’ll see me wearing them around them shop on the days that I think it’s a good idea to wear heels to work.

Pretty Pink Dresses

This piece is so out of character for me.  But for some reason, it was talking to me.  You know how that goes!

pink-dress

I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I started this canvas.  And fortunately, it all worked out!

There were so many questions on Facebook about this piece when I posted it.  So I’ll try to answer some of the questions here.

I did not change threads to create the shading.  Everything is very light coverage to let the painted design show through.  It would be impossible to stitch this with all of the shading.  Unless you Basketweave it.  And if you know me at all, I run as far from Basketweave as I can.

The background is done in a single strand of Vineyard Merino.  My new favorite thread.  Very fine.  Scrumptious to work with.

What you all really want to know about is the ruffle.

pink-dress-ruffle

It is mostly done in gathered stitch.  I used five different silk ribbons in various widths and some Flair.

The stitch guide is complete.  You can order it or the kit by calling the shop.  I haven’t loaded it into the online store yet.

pink party dress cover

I just LOVE these dresses.  I’m working on the green evening gown right now.  Hopefully, I can finish it up tonight.  And I’ve got one more ordered.  I always say…you’ve gotta stitch one or three.  Two will never do!

green gown

The green one hasn’t been as easy to figure out.  I’ll share my trials and tribulations when I post about it.

peach gown

And this one just reminds me of the dress that my Peaches and Cream Barbie Doll wore.  I loved that dress!
